You are welcomed by a monotone and annoying tune being played on the speakers and two grumpy old men. "Dorms" hold 88 (!) beds. Lockers for a surcharge! Also no luggage storage as usual. Comes at a massive surcharge. Worst experience in Japan!

Endless horror story

This is the WORST hostel/guesthouse I have ever stayed at. I have been travelling for 15,5 months and what in this hostel/guesthouse happens that is absolutely outrageous!! I never leave bad comments, but I really have to share this. I have stayed here 3 nights and at the first encounter I was already surprised that they post every 5 meter a notification with warnings: this is not allowed, that is not allowed, do not do this, do not do that, extra charge for this, extra charge for that...  
Anyway, the staff had never been friendly or social. It really looks like they are not so into non-asians bc they never spoke to me but they did to others. The majority of the guests here are asian. Only met 2 non-asians here. I have obviously nothing against Asians at all, but maybe this hostel prefers Asian guests, I don’t know.. I didn’t really feel welcome. 
I booked a female dorm, but there are only men working here so they just walk around in the female dorm any time of the day.. 
At 23:00 the lounge closes and they tell you to leave at exactly 23:00. 
They also play terrible traditional music ALL DAY very loud which you can hear all around the hostel. I am a HUGE fan of music and traditional as well, but this was terrible. 

But at the day of checkout, which is at 10am here.. I was already packed and was in the bathroom when the (male) staff came in at 10:10 telling me I need to check out otherwise I need to pay 500yen. I told him I was ready and was coming down. It is strange that they are so strict on this since more than half of the beds are free. Anyway, I put my bags in the luggage room in the dorm itself, but that wasn’t allowed and had to take it with me and get out of the hostel. I was NOT allowed to stay inside and my bags neither or I had to pay 500yen to store it. I was so upset with this since I have never experience such rude staff and these rules don’t make sense to me at all since it is a big hostel with a lot of space and more than half empty. Anyway, I wanted to pay the 500yen for my luggage and then he charged me 500yen extra bc of my late checkout?? Wtf?! I got more upset and he gave me all my money back and told me to leave and put my bags outside. Then I forgot something and he was blocking the way for me. Seriously?! Like I’m a criminal. 
Then I sat on the verandah OUTSIDE when he came again saying: OUT! 
I stayed here 3 f*cking nights!! NO SERVICE OR WHATSOEVER. I definitely discourage anybody to stay here and especially if you don’t speak Japanese, bc they don’t understand anything you say (or they just don’t want to). Very unfriendly staff. I am still so flabbergasted. So sad that this was the last hostel of my trip before heading home after 15,5 months.. very sad.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!

We're backpacking as a family for 3 months, with a fair bit of hostelling/backpacker experience behind us. After receiving a different room than the one we booked and paid for, we found ourselves trapped in a mildew-infested room. 

With eyes and sinuses burning,I asked to be moved, only to get a lecture from one of the odd-mannered, manga-addicted guys working there. He told me to leave and "find a nice place", as if I was being unreasonable to expect allergen-free oxygen. 

The open-air dorms - more like cattle corrals - would have been better. But instead we chose to leave and find a nice place, which wasn't hard after this weird place! Maybe OK if you're single but not a family place.

Never again!

Pretty nice place to spend 1 night, but no more. I'm not so young and appreciate a comfort and private rest in private space a lot. ))))
Best way to reach it is Yui-Rēru, Yui Monorail, going from Naha airport. You need Kenchō-mae station.
5 floors. But not so big as it seems on a pictures. )) I'd like to say... small.
1st floor is reception and common zone where you can eat, read, internet.
2nd and 3d floor are mixed (ladies/gents), 4th only for ladies. 5th floor mixed + open terrace.
Common bedroom with 2-level wooden beds built in a capsule manner. So, seems like in army barracks, but with one difference - your can separate your own private space in your sleeping place with a curtain. Inside a capsule - personal led light, 2 universal sockets and USB-charger (that is busy with a led light though), one hanger for shirt and/or pants and plastic basket for small items (watches, phone, etc. not for trash!)
Toilet is common on each floor and w/o HVAC. So staying in toilet during summer is pretty... hard (for those who likes sit a lot on the "white stone" )))) ).
Shower is also common with 3 cabins and open 7:00 till 24:00.
Soap, shampoo, towel is for small but payment 120-150¥.
Lockers with a key lock small and large for luggage are on each floor and will cost you ¥300 + ¥1000 as deposit for key.
Price... reasonable, but strange, flexible(?). I've booked it via book..ng.com service and paid ¥2500 for 1 night and thought I was pretty lucky. But when arrived saw a huge banner on the GH's wall "¥1500"... 
strange indeed. Be careful with it.
May I recommend it to you? Hmm... yeap, if you're traveling with a team, you are yang and appreciate low price to comfort. Other hand - see the beginning of my review. )))

Acceptable for one night if...

We reserved a room for our 4-person group and its maximum capacity is actually up to 7 persons. The room is very big and clean with a private big garden on the roof floor. It costs only 12000yen. Niceness of it was really out of our expectation. At the beginning, we just wanted to find a place to sleep as we arrived Okinawa that night quite late at about 8pm but the room made us want to stay here for the rest of our journey. Mum did morning exercise in the garden. She was delighted.
However, shared toilets and bathrooms are outside or on other floors. Dorm area is quite crowded but very cheap. Recommend to reserve rooms, especially those on the top floor.
