Kazariya Guesthouse is a traditional house with 2 floors only, the upper will be private room and 1st floor is dormitory. 

Even though the building is old, but they have kept it really clean. The only thing to expect is this traditional house lighting is very dim in yellow light. 

Overall I had a pleasant 3 nights stay over here :) Kyoto Station is located 15 minutes walk away, but it's near to bus station and subway.

Clean and Cozy Traditional House

We fall in love with this beautiful place! We felt very comfortable and we felt that this traditional hostel, full of details, is really special! Staff are so nice, everything is very clen, location is good...when we come back in Kyoto we'll come back to Kazariya :)

A LITTLE TREASURE IN KYOTO

The people here are really nice, but the place is not the best. It’s walking distance to the Kyoto station so it’s good for going out to Nara, Himeji, Osaka, etc. but of this whole place, there’s only 1 shower, and I’ve lined up for it a few nights. One of my roommates would just go to a local bathhouse instead. And the place is cold! I definitely experienced the lack of internal heating system in Japanese houses. There is free wifi, but not if you're in the last room in the hall. there's no reception there, you'll have to go to the kitchen area to get better reception. I would not go back here b/c the place is small and cold.

Great location, ok hostel

A gem of pure happiness were thrown at my friends and I (4 of us) during our stay in Kazariya guesthouse. It's an antique style compact guesthouse but with all necessary facilities available including bicycle for rental, laundry room, kitchen, tea room, garden etc. 

The bicycle rental charged as 500 Yen per day (from 8am to next morning 8am) is quite low. And the bicycles' condition are great too. I suggest to request the guesthouse owner to reserve the bicycles in advance since it's limited. 

Kazariya is centrally located in Kyoto. It only takes less than 5 minutes walk to Gojo subway station and is also in walking distance to Kyoto Station. With abundant restaurants and convenience stores (i.e. Family Mart) nearby Kazariya you will not starve. 

It was indeed a marvelous place to stay in Kyoto. Looking forward to our next stay.

A Hidden Gem in Kyoto City

The house has a bit of a traditional feel to it and we were surprised as it is situated in the middle of the city. Located very near to Gojo station on karasuma subway line as well as the karasuma-gojo bus stop. Very convenient for tourist planning to travel using these two choices. Very clean and quite a spacious room with tatami mat and futon. If you want to experience a little bit of japanese houses without going to a ryokan, this would be a great place to stay.
