400 reviewsThis was definitely a good hotel for accessing ferries to the islands, and for sightseeing and eating in lovely Ishigaki City. We stayed in a room in the new building looking directly at the port. I loved the view! The beds were very comfortable but the room was a bit smaller than others we had in Okinawa. It didn't really matter and I think the hotel has bigger rooms, but I had trouble working out what was what when booking because I can't speak or read Japanese. Desk staff were welcoming, nice foyer and a very good gift shop. The restaurant across from the port was really good too. On the night we arrived there was a special Obon parade/performance in a function room upstairs from reception and the desk staff encouraged us to go. We found this very interesting, and enjoyed being included in the celebration. We didn't use the pool (or even find it!) as there was heavy rain during our stay but I think a pool is a real advantage in Ishigaki City as it can be very hot. When it came time to leave for Iriomote the terminal was just across the road - super convenient! Ishigaki island is all about its beaches and bays but I am really glad we spent a couple of nights in Ishigaki City as well. It's a nice size of a town with vibrant, arts, food, shopping and nightlife sectors. Something for everyone!
