51 reviewsThis was the most unique part of our 2-week Japan vacation. Hakone National Park was beautiful, and Rikyuan was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and their attention to detail made this experience perfect. We wore kimonos and slippers all around the hotel (which is fairly small, allowing for a really personal experience). The dinner was fabulous, it was so many unique, delicious, and fresh dishes. It was served to us into our room, course by course. This was my first time visiting an onsen, and we got to try both the public and private ones (which you just have to write your name down to reserve a time slot). This was a great experience. Breakfast was in a common dining room, and was such a treat! Also so many little dishes in beautiful pottery. I had read other reviews about smoky smells, which I didn’t have a problem with even though I am usually sensitive to that.
