I stayed for a full week while visiting family over Christmas.

The whole place is spotlessly clean. My room was beautiful and the futon was very comfortable (the pillow was so good I plan to buy one for home). It was also a quiet area.
All of the staff were welcoming and friendly, and their English is much better than my Japanese.
The traditional Japanese breakfast, served in a private dining room, was delicious and very generous. In addition, I arrived back to fresh fruit in my room everyday.
The shower was great, and soaking in the large Japanese tub was a real luxury.

It is a very short walk to Yakuin subway station and the subway gets you to the airport, main train and bus stations, and most sites. The ryokan is also not too far from Tenjin and other places to visit if, like me, you like to walk.

Surprised to see so few recent reviews of this charming ryokan so hopefully this will help someone out. The building is small and slightly cramped with narrow hallows and even narrower staircases, and the wooden floors creek with every step but all of these things (for the most part) add to the experience of staying at a traditional ryokan.  Although I would rate the ryokans in Kyoto slightly higher for service, space and overall quality, Zen Oyado is still a great option if you don’t want to go the traditional hotel route. 

The major inconvenience are the communal restrooms. We had a toilet 6 feet from our room as well as the sinks so that was not a big deal. The shower and bath however are all located downstairs and we had to make the short trek down every day to take a shower. There is a reservation system for the bath (which we didn’t use) and the staff does a great job of cleaning the shower after each use. 

The room and facilities were well kept and very clean.  They do have dinner and breakfast options for additional charge which we turned down. The “manager” of the ryokan was extremely helpful throughout and is the only staff who speaks English (the other minor inconvenience as she is not there all of the time). 

Also, unlike the other ryokans I have stayed at in Kyoto, it seems they out the sleeping futons rather early. Once we returned from our activities around 4pm and the Mats were already out and out beds waiting. This of course is convenient for a nap but the futons do take up about 90% of the room. Just something to take note of. 

Location is good and you are very close to the train station and airport. Also plenty of restaurants nearby and drug store/convenience shops if you need something urgent. 

Overall I enjoyed my time at the ryokan but if I visited Fukuoka again I think I would go with the “conveniences” of a traditional hotel. But this is something to experience once in life, especially if you haven’t visited a ryokan in Kyoto. 

it's a great place to stay when visiting Fukuoka. very good location in a residential area not far the downtown.
authentic ryokan : nice room and baths, wonderful breakfast. the host is very kind, caring and thoughtful with guests. the interior design is really pretty and very sophisticated. veyr peaceful home.
spent only one night there but i have got frustrated when i left. 
would definitively come again for my next stay in Fukuoka.

Just spent three nights here with a friend, and we came away amazed with the level of service and attention to detail. At one stage, I had to check I hadn't misunderstood the price for the stay, as it felt as though we were in a very high end ryokan.
Fresh Fruit every night, amazing breakfast each morning,and an amazing private bath at the end of each day. Nishio-san and her daughter were the perfect hosts.
The neighbourhood (and Fukuoka) is a great surprise, it is quiet at night but we found great places to have a drink, eat fantastic ramen and an incredible wine store in the same block.. Definitely going to return in the future..

Spent only one night here. This was the most authentic ryokan we stayed at. Real art objects and architecture. Not touristy. Breakfast was great, futons comfortable. Lighting low key. Bathrooms are shared but a feeling of respect, privacy and cleanliness permeates. Nice one person room with Japanese soaking bath. Had fun walking local streets to look for dinner. Enjoyed a teppanyaki called Kaguwa. 

Over the past few days I had a chance to spend some time at Nishitei Ryokan. It was an amazing experience. Unlike other guesthouses in Japan where I had previously stayed, Nishitei has a very homey and welcoming atmosphere. You literally feel like a friend is inviting you into her home to stay and to share a meal with her. The place is super clean, the staff is very friendly and the food is superb. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a place to stay in Fukuoka. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Fukuoka (Zen Oyado Nishitei Booked) Food 5.0, Staff 5.0 Scene 5.0 Vibrant Facilities 5.0  Great Vibe Fabulous Owner & Staff Very Accommodating. Very Old Ryokan and Very Authentic Best for couples or single travelers, IMHO

We spent two nights here with our little boy after our 3 nights stay in Nikko Hotel. It’s a completely different experiences and we love this much more than those modern hotels.  In particular, my little boy who is around 2.5 years old enjoyed very much and started missing the house when we back to HK. 
Thank you for Noriko san ( apology if I got your name wrongly spell) and her staffs, who have taken very good care of us during our stay. We have reserved the bath and had a super good time.  Public sharing of toilets and bath are not an issue at all. 
The whole house is well decorated and all the wooden floors are covered with nice carpets to avoid noises which is very considerate.  I hope my boy didn’t cause too much disturbances to others while our stay.
They prepared very good breakfast with a very reasonable price and you can have a fulfilling tummy to start with your day. Our whole family appreciates very much for all the efforts and superb services they have provided. Please do keep up with the hard-works and we will come again for sure. As my little boy really loves to see all the aunties around in the house. It’s like meeting relatives at home:) 
Location is pretty good in view it is a small city and u can go anywhere with buses and trains which are all within 8 minutes walk. Must try out!!

From the very start, we were greeted in excellent English by two lovely ladies who made us feel right at home by showing us around the whole complex. The room is very charming, the bath is delightful and the fūton bed is excellent for those so inclined. Nothing but good things to say!

Awesome Ryokan! A traditional ryokan like they were meant to be. The rooms are a little small but cosy and the staff was extrememly friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would warmly recommend to anyone.
