Agriturismo Le Agavi

We knew we'd arrived somewhere special when our host Giuseppe and his family welcomed us with a cup of coffee and cakes in front of a 270 degree panorama of the Cilento coastline, the picturesque seaside town of Acciaroli beneath us. Throughout our four-night stay we were treated to large, sumptuous breakfasts, including fresh honey straight from the honeycombs in Giuseppe's brother's hives up the hill. Agriturismo Le Agavi is stylishly furnished, peaceful, impeccably clean and a delightful retreat on one of Italy's lesser known rivieras. It is easily reached in less than 10 minutes by car up the mountain from the clean, wide, blue-flagged beach that stretches north from Acciaroli. Giuseppe and his family are charming and helpful and we could not have asked for more from our stay. The sole disappointment was our inability to find anywhere to rent bicycles (we had planned to explore the hills on two wheels). But the hospitality, tranquility and show-stopping views, including sunsets over the distant island of Capri, more than compensated. This is a place - and a region - to come back to. We certainly intend to.
