We arrived to the b&b during the specified check in times, however there was no one there. After a while, a female host greeted us and seemed distressed that we did not call her on the mobile number. Overall, the accommodation is rather poor, the furniture is old and the bathroom does not seem fit for purpose. The host was unfriendly and made no effort to try communicate in English. As there is no Wi-Fi on the premises we were not able to use our own phones for translating.
Unfortunately we did not meet Antonio who speaks some English. At the time of our arrival, the credit card payment facility was out of action which meant a long trip to amalfi and back for cash. Overall, our experience was negative and I would not recommend this place. 

PS the location on Google maps is wrong, but we have requested an update to the correct location.

A poor experience

A real gem away from the hustle and bustle of Amalfi, very peaceful, lovely views, comfy bed! Just make sure you understand the directions to the b&b, it's not near the Google map entry. And get detailed instructions to the parking spot - we misunderstood, and parked in a hotel space, causing huge problems for them and resulting in great stress all round!

Lovely as long as you can find it!

This is a tough review to write.
Basically you will get two different reviews from two people depending on their circumstances. If you are youngish, fairly fit , don't have a suitcase, like eating out, don't have a car, speak Italian, and get the better room of the two you will rate this B and B highly. Otherwise you might think differently.

Unfortunately, we are the opposite in all respects - in our 60's, sore knees and hips, two suitcases, relying on public transport and English speaking only. Consequently this review is slanted from this perspective.

We had a hell of a time getting there for several reasons. First we didn't get an email from Antonio with detailed instructions. Secondly tourist info told us to get off the bus too early and we walked with our luggage up the main road looking for the infamous 130 steps to our La Casetta. We gave up and contacted Antonio (as did some guests arriving some days later). He was kind enough to come get us a short time later and relieved my wife of her suitcase before ascending those steps. I have no idea why he didn't have a sign for his B and B at the foot of the steps. No wonder people can't find his place.

Having said that Antonio is a wonderful host and on most occasions we understood each other eventually. He did his very best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. His home is certainly lovely and oh what a view. Downstairs is the dining/office/kitchen and upstairs are the two guest bedrooms. He resided above our room and it was very easy to know when he was up and about because the ceiling creaked with each of his steps.

The two rooms are very different so make sure you have booked the larger of the two with its magnificent view out over the ocean. It also comes with a larger bathroom but both are out in the hall -  so there is always the annoyance of being proper and careful  etc because you may offend the people next door. The walls between rooms are far from soundproof and everything that goes on in the bathrooms can be easily heard by all. One tiny soap for 5 nights is a bit tough and no change of towels either.

As other reviewers have noted the minor bedroom and bathroom are minuscule. There is nowhere but the bathroom floor to put toiletries. The same goes for the shower. Again make sure you are getting the bigger one with the big view and bidet. The minor room has an ocean glimpse from its room and an annoying wardrobe which eats up already limited space.
There is no WIFI. I was allowed to use his computer but found the Italian keyboard very difficult to use. The TV worked just fine but only Italian speaking channels except for two video hit stations which played mostly English rubbish.

Unfortunately there is a church close by and every half hour between 7am and 11:30pm it rings that bell. Then there's the rooster all night ......

Breakfast was continental. No fresh fruit except for some lemons. Cereal is Cornflakes. 
There are several ways to get into Amalfi about 2 KMS away. The easiest is to walk the pathway outside the front door. It's called The Path of God and provides many spectacular ocean and town views along its meandering way. There are many steps but only steep at the very end and depending on which way you decide to enter the city towards the end of your walk.
You can also get the bus at the bottom of the 130 steps or when you leave La Casetta go up to the top via the Church and 260 steps - not really recommended unless you want some variety.

Probably the hardest part about staying here was being cut off from food sources after breakfast for long periods of time.You had to go out after breakfast and because the B and B is so far from food outlets it's not viable to head back till after dinner - that's at least 9 or 10 hours from your lodgings.

When leaving we opted to walk the 2 KMS back into town as we couldn't face getting on a bus at the bottom of the steps with all our luggage which had to be store underneath and all the time blocking the road while we do it. A cab was a possibility but was ruled out just in case it never turned up and we missed the bus to Salerno and our flight out and you still have to get your bags down those 130 steps.

Some tips:
Bus tickets need yo be purchased prior to boarding all buses. There are lots of "Tabachhi" shops around to assist. Most tickets are around 3.20 - 3.60 Euros

If you are flying out of Naples from here try catching the Salerno bus then another bus direct to the airport from outside Salerno station where the first bus terminates. Buy this ticket either from the driver or the ticket office on the right at entrance to the station. Ignore the driver if he says the end of the trip is down near the water. The final stop is outside the station another couple of blocks away.

It depends on what you want

This place is everything, you do go up about 40 steps to get from the road to the B&B however, when you arrive Antonio, welcomes you with a cold glass of lemonade with fresh lemons. Antonio, thank you for making us feel so comfortable and welcome. We stayed in the room with sea view, it was beautiful, clean, fresh and perfect. You get a key to the house, your room and private bathroom. When you wake up, there is an amazing breakfast with fresh warm croissants, coffee, cereal and yogurt. So perfect. Please keep in mint the check in time, we did arrive some hours eariler because of change of plans and had to wait about 2 hours. As for location, you are close from the center of Amalfi, restaurants and stores. You can walk, takes about 20 minutes, or you can take the bus, or take a taxi if you are not on a budget. Personally we always walked because the view is absolutely magical. This place is more than I expected, I loved it!!! Antonio, thank you so much for your warm personality. We hope to come back soon!

We miss you Beautiful Place

Cute place in between stairs with a breathtaking view on the sea! If you're not fit, don't even consider coming but if you want to add some fitness to your holiday this is the place to be! Rooms are clean and tidy, bathroom is outside the room but private. Amalfi is at 15/20 min walking (stairs). Antonio is a wonderful host who can give you lots of advise. Highly recommended
