We were there for 3 nights.. the heaters dont function prpperly. We hv to go down everytime and request them to turn it on. The reception is operated from kitchen. Post 5pm, thrre is no one to help out at the house as they lock up and leave... it was very cold and we cud not get the heater on in the room...  drinking water/ tea bags in room couldnot be replenished as no one around after 5 pm.... no, I dont expect anyone to be there 24x7, but you hv guests ( paying) staying with you, you need to ensure these basic needs like water / teabags sugar is avlbl, even if staff is npt around.. no, will not recommend this property. 

Rooms too small. Limited facilities

There was not breakfast included, so do not use that criteria when booking. The location was close to city centre, which was nice, but it is on a VERY noisy street. The room was fine, but the people staying did not clearly understand what room they were in and there were definitely partiers who knocked on our door at early hours.

Choose a different accommodation!

Very family friendly, kind and thorough attention to detail. Extremely tasty breakfast with fresh baked croissants and endless pots of coffee as well as loads more continental style. One of the friendliest breakfast rooms too, we chatted away with everyone staying there. Easy to access from Eyre sq, train and bus station, up a little hill from all. Would definitely return. Thank you.

Fab stay

I had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Asgard Guest House and I cannot recommend highly enough staying there. As opposed to the detached feeling I always have with staying at hotels, returning to this guest house at the end of each day of sightseeing felt like returning home. The location is a short walk (about 600 meters) from the central train and bus stations and downtown Galway. The staff couldn't have be more gracious, attentive and hospitable, the room and bed were super comfortable and spacious and clean. They serve a lovely breakfast buffet and seating is in a glassed in dining room with the view of their beautiful garden, a beautiful view I also had from my room window on the floor above. The only downside was the bathroom, which is very outdated and needs renovation. I most highly recommend staying here!!

A guesthouse that feels like home - most highly recommend!

Clean, but small and compact room. Easy casual walk to town. Fergal was very friendly and accomodating and Marta was helpful with restaurant and bar suggestions. Breakfast was included. Continental style with very fresh food items: cereals, breads, etc. The only negative was the noise from the above room. We could hear every footstep.

Comfortable Stay

I was offered a special cash price for my booking over the phone and was assured that parking was no issue at the B&B, very important to me as I was planning to spend the day and evening in the city. When I arrived at the B&B I was told parking was on the road, but I had noticed there were parking restrictions. When I said I was told there was parking they said "yes but you can park," I asked about the restrictions and the manager said "yes there's restrictions but the parking warden doesn't usually bother with this road." My sister and I were shown to the room which was cold, I spoke to the manager and said the room was cold. I then said I wasn't going to stay due to the cold room and the parking restrictions. They were unhelpful and said they were going to charge us anyway, they debited the full amount of the room from my card immediately and wouldn't take into account the fact that we were unhappy with the room and their service. When we called to speak to them about the fact they'd taken payment a few days later, they lied and said we had turned up at 8.30pm at night, we hadn't told them we weren't staying and they had had to call us to check. I offered to screenshot my phone to evidence that this wasn't true, we were there hours before that time and they didn't call us, we told them we weren't staying in a cold room. They also claim the heating was on in the room which it wasn't. We ended up booking into a really lovely B&B a few minutes away called St Judes, which we would highly recommend. A very poor experience with the Asgard Guest House and terrible customer service.

Cold room and awful customer service

On meeting Fergal on our arrival we were at once made to feel welcome. Our room was tastefully decorated, with fresh clean bedding with ensuite bathroom. Next morning we ate our Full Irish breakfast in the conservatory. All the girls who cooked and served breakfast or cleaned and hoovered were always smiling, cheerful and polite. So yes we will be back and hopefully sooner rather than later.

Our First Time And It Won't Be The Last

We were traveling with another couple and both of our rooms were small.  For us that was not a problem as we were touring Ireland on the light side.  But for our very tall friend he got a room that was at the top, probably formally the attic, it had a pitched ceiling and he could only stand in certain sections of the room.  Also the room and bathroom condition was a bit basic and worn.  Not out of the realm of reasonably priced B&Bs.

The staff were all very nice and helpful.  The breakfast in the atrium room was lovely.  And the five to ten minute walk to town meant we were in the heart of the action and Eyre square and Latin Quarter very quickly.

Small rooms

Our room was way too small for a double. We could not move around at all. The bathroom was tight and cramped. For the price, it was not worth it. The breakfast was very good and it was close to town. The breakfast room is delightful. I don’t know if other rooms were small too.

Room Too Cramped

The only positives of this B&B, from my experience, are its location (7 minute walk to center) and breakfast room (beautiful). Although it advertises free parking, the small lot in front can fit maybe 5 cars (if carefully parked like a puzzle). The paid street parking is 2 hrs only. We asked about a paid lot for when we returned late in the evening, and the staff didn’t know which lots would be open 24 hrs. We were given mis-information and drove around for 45 minutes looking for parking at 12 midnight. Finally, I was able to look up a paid city-operated lot for €5 a day that is located only 2 minutes walk up the road (at the Greyhound race track), and we moved our car from the street early in the morning. How does the staff not know about this parking option? Our “family room” for 3 people was extremely small. You could barely walk to your bed, and the beds were crammed in awkwardly. There was no room for luggage. For €300 a night (we stayed during the horse races, unfortunately), this was unacceptable. It should not be advertised as accommodating 3 people. The hotel is old and the shower very loud (I could deal with this if not for the other issues). The breakfast was average. The last straw was one of the staff (maybe the owner?) accusing us of not paying. We had paid one night (€300) of our two night stay in advance, since this was requested because of the races. The questioning was very rude, and continued even after we told him we’d paid half in advance. Finally, my brother showed him a credit card statement with the charge. I would never stay or recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Galway. There are plenty of other options, even on the same road. Unfortunately our options were limited due to the races.
