Kinlay House

Excellent location: quiet and scenic but close to good restaurants and pubs. Short, pleasant walk to the city centre. Very clean.

Reception staff very helpful with good food recommendations. Staff went beyond the call of duty to return lost property to me - many thanks to Eileen the manager and to Jan.

It's 18 months since I last stayed at Kinlay House and as soon as I walked in I was treated like an old friend by Andy on reception and later on in the evening, his colleague Tom.
I was given a quiet clean and spacious dorm with a good hot shower and a comfortable bed.
The free breakfast in the morning sets you up for a day of work, study or sight-seeing. 
Kinlay House is within walking distance of most of Cork's amenities and is in the heart of the historic Shandon area of the city - virtually next door to the famous "Shandon Bells".
The hostel is very well managed and is an excellent introduction for visitors to Cork, Ireland's friendly Rebel City. 


I stayed at Kinlay house for one night. The staff were fantastic. Very laid back and friendly. Special thank you to Hamid and Sean who made me feel welcome and couldn't have been more helpful. The room and ensuite were very clean. Popular spot.

Was so pleasantly surprised by facilities and friendly atmosphere here. Loads of space for you...bunks not too close together. Didn't do breakfast because it is just toast and coffee apparently, but you won't care here. 
Shower facilities were superb. It is so cheap and so central that you would be crazy not to stay here on your visit to Cork.

The dorms are clean as is the bedding. I found the staff helpful and courteous. 

This hostel is in a great location close to the Victorian Quarter and city centre. 

There are handy lockers, a small one will cost 5 euros for 24 hours and can be paid by card.

Very comfortable and excellent value for money. 

The hostel was on a secondary street, really nice and quite but at less than 10min wall from the city center! A great placement! There were not an elevator, that was the only negative point. Nice staff and easy check in. Room key was a card.
Breakfast was included, and they offer instant coffee, tea, milk and cereal, and bread to toast, with jam.
Good connection with the bus for the airport in Dublin, and for Dublin city. (That’s the one we took)
We had a double room with private bathroom, all clean and towels provided. Heaters turned on only in the evening, so I could get a bit cold in the room, but the bed comforter was really really warm! Good WiFi connection.
We walked all the time everywhere, really no need to take public transportation! Near the hostel, crossed the bridge, there is a nice big grocery store, and passed that, you’re in the center, plenty of places to eat and shops.
We really liked the place!

Staff are friendly here and helped us find the good places to eat. Room and bedding was clean and the bed was so comfortable. Bathroom was nice and clean too. It's located in a good spot too. If I came back to Cork I would stay here again.

Positives:
- Sean at reception is a legend, so nice and helpful, deadset top bloke 
-location was decent for sure 
-cost effective

Negatives:
-everyone who was staying here was super strange, not really a hostel vibe 
-everyone in my room was old/snored a tonne/really odd

Sean was a legend - only highlight

Stayed for 3 nights. Rooms were clean and the location was good as it was just a 5- 10 minute walk from the city. The breakfast options could have been better however, apart from this hostel was okay and staff was nice and helpful.

Visit was good

We (3) had to spend 1 week in a 3m² bedroom. We couldn't even wash up properly, the water was too hot or cold, probably the temperature was based on the mood of the owner. I don't recomend it, spend time outside under a bridge and it will be 100% better.
