I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for Hidden Villas by Hilton in Uluwatu. We splurged on what we thought would be a luxury stay based on the Google ratings, but there’s absolutely nothing luxurious about this hotel.

From the start, I had to repeatedly request basic necessities like clean towels, bed sheets, and robes. And by clean, I mean towels that weren’t horribly stained, making you cringe and question whether they were properly washed. Even the pool towels had the same issue.

We stayed in the Malibu Villa, and while the view was nice, it was far from worth the daily rate. The villa is outdated and desperately needs TLC. The sofas and cloth furnishings were so stained that we had to cover everything with bed sheets—it was repulsive to even consider sitting on them. The bathroom was another letdown. The shower opens directly to the outdoor area, leaving gaps that allow insects and mosquitoes to enter. There’s also an opening above the his-and-her sink area, and we woke up to a pile of ants. Even after the room was cleaned, some dead ants were left behind. To top it off, the bathroom gets sauna-hot during the afternoon and evening, making it unbearable to use. There’s no air conditioning or fans in the bathroom, and we had to keep the door closed to prevent insects from entering.

The hotel restaurant was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the high prices. We found much better food at local spots for a fraction of the cost and even resorted to ordering in from nearby restaurants while staying at the hotel. Despite keeping our food outside on the patio area to avoid attracting insects, we still woke up to a cockroach in our villa.

The worst part was the operations manager’s response when I mentioned the cockroach. She simply said, “Bali has insects,” as if this were an acceptable excuse for finding a cockroach in our room. This made me feel as if my complaint was absurd, even though I understand Bali has insects. We didn’t choose a room that was open to the outside, and nowhere on the website does it claim that the villa is not fully enclosed.

While the staff was friendly and helpful, as most Indonesian people are, it wasn’t enough to save our experience. The operations manager reached out via WhatsApp after we addressed all of the above during checkout. Unfortunately, the response felt like a copy/paste message, mentioning ongoing construction—something we never even complained about. Although she acknowledged some of our concerns, she completely glossed over the issue of cleanliness with the sheets and towels, making us doubt she fully grasps what’s going on at the hotel. It was just a series of apologies with no real action to show they took our horrible stay seriously.

This place is severely overpriced for what it offers, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a truly luxurious stay. AVOID AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!

LOOK AND LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS—I WISH I DID!!

Very very nice, cosy, and exclusive place. The staff is extremely nice and helpful! They were proactive in helping us in almost everything (booking cabs for us, restaurants, and guiding us around). 
The view is mesmerising, especially during sunsets.

Exclusive, elegant, and different.

This is a disappointment to write this review for a hotel that is stunning, and should have been an amazing experience. However, there are significant issues with the hotel's ability to produce itemized and accurate invoices, process refunds, and communicate with their guests.

Hidden Hills Villas overcharged us by close to $500 USD, and has yet to refund us (we left the hotel over 10 days ago). My husband and I noticed the error within 15 minutes of being charged upon arrival, and immediately flagged it to the staff. This led to HOURS of back and forth and multiple "revised" bills that were still incorrect (not a great experience after a long travel day). Finally, the bill was corrected and we thought the issue was resolved.

When we checked out, we were assured the refund was being processed immediately and back to our credit card (minus a few beverage charges). Fast forward, and there is still no refund. I reached out to learn that the refund was never processed, and now they are unable to process it on our credit card (no explanation provided). They have now requested our bank account information via WhatsApp for the refund, which we are not particularly comfortable with.

This is unacceptable for a luxury hotel and a pretty shocking experience to have at a hotel that was so well-reviewed. The difficulty to get updates on the invoice and explanations has continued to be painful. Again, such a disappointment as the hotel itself is stunning and other staff members are fantastic.

Stunning hotel, terrible billing issues & overcharges

You understand ethos of the Hidden Hills team well before you even enter the property. Right from the inquiry we made you come to understand the warmness of the team. The airport pick-up from the ever friendly Putu to the entire team from check-in to the butler team to restaurant....a harmonious unison. The team makes this Villa. Yes there is construction happening but it's the case for all of Bali. The property is small and private away from it all but close enough to catch a quick Grab taxi for a short hop to one of the many beaches, beach clubs and restaurants. Already planning next visit. 

Absolutely Recommended 

A lovely quiet hotel with an absolute phantastic service. Heartwarming welcome. We had dinner several times at the hotel an the food was absolutely delicious every time. The massages were exceptionally professional and highly recommendable. The villas offer privacy all the times. If I’ll go to Bali again, for sure I would stay again at Hidden Hills.

Stunning

This place is unreal!! A real dream set up. I stayed for 3 nights/4 days in the Persia studio, it was spotlessly clean and open with great natural light and had everything i wanted. Nice gentle smelling flowers and candle in the room, great shower, the comfiest bed ive stayed in in months, a comfortable little sofa/nook for reading, a bluetooth speaker and even a white noise machine!! Full smart TV with all the apps too for lazy mornings/evenings in bed which i would recommend here as the rooms are just too well designed and peaceful to not make use of.  I had breakfast delivered to my room every morning which i ate in my garden, which was like a sunny, blooming english garden! Beautiful butterflies and birds. I also used the main communal pool as i didnt have one in my room, there was barely anyone there ever in the day, and a nice buzz of people at the restaurant at sunset. It really is one of the best sunset views in Uluwatu. Especially if you nab one of the tables furthest to the left when they set the seating/tables out for the evening. There was some building work going on, but this is the case literally everywhere in uluwatu. It barely bothered me, and i did spend quite a bit of time in the room, it was only for a few hours in the morning on and off and it wasnt always that loud.  could honestly go on and on. I could go on and on! The real highlight/pièce de résistance of this place was the staff, all so warm, friendly and genuinely happy. They set up a whatsapp chat with you upon arrival and you can message them any requests, e.g. if you want breakfast delivered to your room at a certain time the next day, any questions/recommendations or bookings youd like to make, i booked a great surf lesson through them too! But other than that the staff very much give you your space :). Special thanks to Imene and Tusan, but honestly you're all wonderful. I will definitely be back, i didn't stay for long enough and i felt so at peace and comfortable! Thank you!!

A little piece of heaven, thank you!

Stayed at Hidden Hills for 4 nights and the hotel in general is great for a small boutique.

Food is very good, the staff are lovely and attentive, the views are great and the room was beautiful. Also massages were very good! 

Downside was the St Tropez villa which we stayed in, is directly opposite the bar, restaurant and pool, so was quite noisy all day until approx 11pm. I'm a light sleeper so this was a little annoying. It is also directly across from the construction site, although this was not too noisy at all.

There also aren't any perks you'd expect with a larger hotel at this price point, free water, fresh fruit here and there, etc.

Overall good experience but could do some things better.

Nice hotel but could do a few things better...

Amazing hotel. Exactly like the pictures. Food is very good. Service is very quick and simple. Everything is going through whats app. People are very nice. Nicest hotel in Uluwatu!
We took the villa ibiza, sea view, nice bathroom, everything was perfect.

Perfection, days in paradise

This was a belated 40th birthday trip and we treated ourselves to staying here, so glad we did. We stayed in villa Santorini. The villa itself was spacious with a great outdoor shower and a stunning view to the ocean in the distance. Waking up to the view was such a delight. Staff were extremely friendly and always very pleasant, you even get added to a WhatsApp group with a daily notification about the weather! They forewarned about construction works nearby and at the hotel itself but it really wasn’t much bother at all. Only some very minor things - the wifi wasn’t great, would drop out constantly and the only one night we tried to watch TV, it just wouldn’t load. And the villa feels like it could do with a little bit of a refresh but overall this didn’t take anything away from our great stay. Would definitely come back.

Wonderful stay at Hidden Hills.

Hidden Hills Villas was a private oasis with an incredible view and in a prime location near the attractions in Uluwatu. The service was top notch and the butler service was very convenient. Would recommend, 5 stars!
