We haven't had a booking so we just walked in. Very welcoming family and a quirky building within the White Quarter.
The room was beautiful, specially furnished and very spacious including a fridge 😍😍😍. Our room had a separate bathroom and toilet, a little terrace attached. All was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. A/C and fans working fine.

We felt very comfortable and one of those rooms you don't really want to leave😉🤣🤣. We enjoyed our stay a lot, appreciated the warm hospitality of the family and the central location. Lots of food options in walking distance.

We would return any time when back in Pondicherry.

Ps. You need a good mosquito repellent. Despite the whole room has mosquito netting there are still quite a few buzzing around. But everywhere you go in Pondicherry - lots and lots of Mosquitos

Pss. there are a few stairs to climb to the first floor and no lift. People with walking difficulties might struggle


A very special & affordable place

Good accommodation at Puducherry

We had a junior suite. It was spacious and clean, with lots of room for three people, plus its own balcony area. There was easy access to the kitchen next door. The staff were welcoming to us. The atmosphere at Nila is old school, laidback and charming. 

Homely and welcoming place to stay

We stayed at Nila Homestay for two nights, as a family of four people, two adults and two children. We were allotted Room 4 on the second floor. 

As pointed out by fellow reviewers, the biggest advantage of staying over at Nila is the proximity to the beach and its place right in the middle of White Town. We just walked everywhere and found all what we needed in the immediate vicinity.  
The second plus was the total privacy, safety and quiet. Once inside the room, we barely felt like we were so close to the most happening place in Pondicherry and this, a day before New Year.

That said, a few points to set expectations for guests. 
 - There is no car parking facility within the homestay. You can still park on the road safely. 
 - There is no TV.
 - There's a small refrigerator and a kitchenette with utensils. We would've appreciated a dairy whitener with a couple of sugar sachets. 

We do hope to stop by in our future visits as it was a hassle free stay.

Quiet and Peaceful Stay

Home stay was very good, Just a 5 mins walk to the beach.Rooms were very neat and clean.House keeping staffs were so friendly.We actually had stayed for an extra 6hrs,owner was so friendly and helpful that he didn't ask us pay extra :P  Thanks Eugene sir for your kindness and Hospitality.

Homestay was really good and in a walkable distance to the beach .Rooms were clean, neat and spacious. House keeping staffs were very helpful and friendly.We stayed for an extra 6-7 hrs , Owner was so friendly that he didn't charge us extra.Thanks Eugene sir for the kindness and hospitality.

Very good homestay

I thought this place was great. I agree with the Lonely Planet review - the rooms are simple but have a lot of character, and the hosts are very friendly. This was a great place after staying at noisier places in India. My room felt relaxed and spacious, and the homestay's location was great...on a relatively quiet street in the French quarter close to some good cafes, and yet still an easy walk to Aurobindo Ashram and the Tamil quarter (and even closer to the beach) - I only felt the need to take a rickshaw once. I highly recommend this place for the mid-budget range in Pondicherry.
