Thor Guesthouse

The hotel is in a prefect location right in the centre! It’s cheap but really nice, the rooms are clean, bathroom and kitchen is shared but they were kept clean and tidy! Can’t fault this place, cheap but great!! 

We did the Intrepid Golden Circle tour. Great experience. If you love nature, glaciers, and waterfalls you will love this tour! We stayed at the guesthouse. Free continental breakfast. Recommend room with bathroom.

Three of us stayed here in a triple room for one night, the first day with arrived in Reykjavik before meeting up with the rest of our travel group. We picked the Thor Guesthouse because it was inexpensive and conveniently located. We arrived at 7 am, and since we couldn't get in our room until 4 pm, we stored our luggage at the BSI bus station, which was not terribly far from the guesthouse, but still inconvenient. The beds in our room were pretty comfortable and we had great night of sleep (we were also exhausted - ha!) and didn't notice any noise from other guests. There was a small kitchenette directly outside of our room, plus a bathroom with a shower. We never had any issues with bathroom or shower access during our stay. The bathroom could have had better ventilation and been a bit cleaner, but it was not terrible. Overall, an inexpensive place to stay that's located very centrally to bars, restaurants, and shopping.

I stayed here for a few nights, the location is excellent; the shared kitchen is pretty good for a guesthouse, spacious and with excellent views over the city. It's one of these places where there are no staff present except in the mornings to clean rooms, so management can be hard to contact. It was generally quiet but there was a bit of street noise on weekends.

We stayed in room 10, perfect for family with 2 kids. Very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen so we could make our own breakfast and dinner. Clean hot showers. The view from the room was amazing and a rooftop viewing balcony has good views of Hallgrimska church and main streets of Reykjavik. We were able to walk to all the sights of downtown Reykjavik easily from here.

Inexpensive place to stay in Reykjavik

Quite decent, good location, nice view

Great location for family stay 

Humble accommodations in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. We stayed at the guesthouse over New Years and selected it based on price, location and availability. Hotels fill up very quickly, and this is pretty much the only place we could stay within out budget. 

That being said, we were overall satisfied with our stay. This place ranks low in terms of comfort and amenities, but high in location and price. Our room had a queen bed and a desk. No television. Very thin walls that let us hear everything going on in the hall and surrounding rooms. Two communal kitchens (one on each floor) and two communal bathrooms per floor. Bathrooms need to be updated. Only one towel provided per person. 

Bonus: Amazing views of downtown from the 4th and 5th floor. 

After booking we received a door code via email. We arrived in the afternoon and an employee was there to greet us and show us around. Not sure what their office hours are.
