15 reviewsMy girlfriend and I found this hotel, Villa Hermosa, right next to one of the cleanest, safest (not to mention largest) amusement parks in all of Central America, Irtra. The perfect location is an easy drive from Xela (in the highlands) and anywhere along the Pacific which makes it also a perfect launching point for volcano hikes and thermal pools. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was absolutely amazing as we endulged in their nachos, calamari, chicken wings, and not to mention the best home-made tamales we've ever had. As stated above, they have an excellent indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant with a HUGE pool which is perfect for both kids and adults. The close proximity to Irtra creates a perfect weekend trip that you won't find in any of the guide books such as Lonely Planet and Moon. It gets crowded on weekends so if you have the opportunity book ahead or try also coming during the weekdays. Overall, the value of Villa Hermosa is unmatched anywhere in all of Guatemala. Everything was first class and the prices were extremely reasonable. I would recommend to families and friends looking to have a getaway to not just a great amusement park in Central America, but a great adventure anywhere. There's also Mayan ruins nearby which we didn't have time to check out. Next time. So much fun!
