The worst hotel I have ever been to so far…
Bad bathroom, bad AC, uncomfortable beds, bad lighting, insufficient breakfast, bad door locking…
I do not suggest anyone to try to stay in this “?place”…..

No need to try to stay…

Right on the waterfront in the centre of town. Staff were friendly and met all our needs re transport and bag storage. Included breakfast was standard for a two star hotel that is you may wish to eat out. 

Great little hotel

There would appear to be some mixed reviews about this hotel but I can only comment on our own experience of this establishment. We caught the high speed ferry from Ayvalik to Mytilene and decided to spend the night in this busy port on Lesvos Island. 

After walking along the sea front and having viewed a few hotels the Hotel Sappho caught our eye. The Reception and the hotel form part of a ground level small shopping mall so the lobby is small and contains a couple of chairs and the reception area. The lady we met was operating the hotel with her son and they were both very pleasant and cheerful and the mother managed to converse in English very well even though her son spoke English fluently.

One thing worth mentioning here. The Sappho Hotel is an old building. If you want nice spacious and modern luxury hotel accommodation then there are other hotels along the sea front that will charge you around 100 dollars or more for very comfortable rooms.  At the Sappho Hotel you are paying 50 Euros ( £44.00 or 227 Turkish Lira ) for a double room which includes breakfast for two people. This is a very reasonable price for Lesvos Island. This is a budget hotel after all. 

Our double room faced the harbour. It has a small balcony. There was a double bed and a TV and the bathroom. Everything worked. The weather was cold outside but the room was warm and cosy enough for an overnight stay. The location on the sea front is ideal since you walk out the door and you are in the centre of either the shopping district to the rear or the harbour to the front of the hotel. 

Wi fi was provided which worked well and the breakfast was perfectly adequate for our needs. There is a selection of vegetables, eggs and ham and cheese, bread and cereals and tea and coffee etc. The restaurant itself is a little time capsule and very quirky. The marble chipped floors in the restaurant and hallways are very nice. This would have been quite grand in its hey day.

Would I stay here again? Yes I would. If you are on a budget and travelling as a single person or a couple then this hotel is a good choice for one or two nights.

Hotel Sappho Mytilene

The rooms, especially the bathrooms are very small. And the room had a so bad smell that we opened the balcony door all day in order to breathe. Moreover since it's on the main road, it was very noisy.

Dirty and Small Rooms with a Bad Smell

Unfortunately we stayed at this hotel 1 night, we have tought that it is out of season so we can easily found hotel but most of hotels was full so we stay here for 1 night, 2 single bad has combined and make 1 big bad , it was unconfortable, room and bath was not clean and very old... room is hot , water is hot , this only reason I give 2 stars... breakfast is almost nothing , just 5_6 choises and most cannot eatable... and it cost 55 eur...stay  away...

The hotel is one of the few choices in the center of Mytilene. It is a basic hotel and kind of dated but if you get a room in the front you will be rewarded by the view. Otherwise book it in a competitive price.

Center location - Nice view

Competitive prices for Lesbos, functional air-conditioning and all that you need. The breakfast included offers nice local food, fresh orange juice, and olives from the island. Overall good place to stay!

Some trouble with the electricity being dependent on your room key placed in a slot. Not sure, but it seemed the fridge was in the same circuit, and didn't offer much cooling for this.
