My travelling companion had to pull out of the holiday so I went alone. The en-suite room was clean and the excellent air con was included in the price which was a bonus. There was a fridge, though no brew facilities - maybe because I went for the breakfast option. The cold buffet-style breakfast was simple and sufficient, bread, Nescafé, cartons of juice, yoghurt and honey, cheese, tomatoes etc. Fantastic location a few minutes walk from the beach. My room had a balcony with a fab view, and the rooms below had large terrace-style balconies. 

The aptly- named Joy and her daughter who look after the apartments -cleaned daily - are wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. They really made the holiday memorable. 

No steep hill to the accommodation which made
a change. Poros with its shingle beaches was laid-back. There are two great tavernas a short walk away from the accommodation to the right. The seafood was among the best I’ve had: sardines and all the trimmings at eight euros, and a whole bream was seventeen euros. 

I particularly liked Bar Zanza - on the small parade before you turn into the town square -  with its great staff, half-price cocktails and Draught local beer (4 euros for just over a pint). 
Don’t fill up on the free bar snacks before dinner! 

The harbour is nearby if you fancy a day trip to Ithaca or the mainland ( which I did on my first visit thirty years ago), though I had a lovely relaxing week this time without leaving Poros. Highly recommended.

Chilled, Friendly, Wonderful Seafood & Bars.

We took a gamble when we booked this little hotel  but i am so glad that we did. What a super little place. It is run by Effie and she was a star. The room was cleaned daily and sheets were changed every couple of days. Plenty fresh towels, good supply of hot water, shower and a lovely large comfy bed, the room also was a good decent size and we had a large east facing terrace, so if you were up early enough you could see the sunrise and a sea view . we had breakfast each morning prepared by Effies lovely mother, fruit juice, tea, yogurt and honey fresh fruit, fresh bread and a selection of cheese and meat, tomatos,  boiled egg- set us up til late afternoon. The hotel is a short stroll along the sea front to bars and restaurants. A perfect setting for a relaxing and chilled out holiday . We shall be turning next year .

A proper little gem

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this place and I could go on and on about all the positives. 
I'll start with fact myself and my partner spent a truly wonderful relaxing week here just recently sept 3 - sept 10 . We actually choose Hotel galini because of the reviews . We were not disappointed. Neither of us had stayed in a 1 star hotel before but we're both bowled over by the wonderful the women that run this place are. Effie and her mother Joy are likely to be two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, warm , humble, hardworking  sweet ladies . Can't do enough for you. The hotel comprises of 9 rooms. Our was more than adequate, basic yes but we had everything we needed including a sea view . Our rooms and linen were seen to every day. Fresh and clean.  Breakfast was provided by Joy the sweetest old lady ever, we really did look forward to every morning with her.  The freshest tomatoes, bread , yogurts, coffee, orange juices, eggs and more was given. We had such a wonderful and relaxing holiday here , we really can't wait to return. The beach is literally less than a 5 minutes walk away , you can hear the waves lap the pebbled beach from the hotel. So many wonderful restaurants and bars all in walking distance too. This is not a party place, it's peaceful , very relaxing, mainly older couples seen here. Poros you are amazing and we can't wait for our next trip. 


A True Gem Of Poros

Very nice lady nothing was to much trouble,spotlessly clean would highly recommend, sorted everything including return transfer, nice sunrise view every morning spent a lot of time in the paradise bar just down the road they to were very welcoming 

Very welcoming 

When I travel, it is nice to experience the culture of an Island and this is exactly what I experienced here at this lovely little hotel.  I have traveled to Kefalonia before, but this visit I wanted to stay away from hordes of tourists and learn a little about Greek life.  After a short stay in Argostoli, I arrived following a short EU4 bus ride here.  

The welcome you receive at Hotel Galini is very special.  Hard working, very honest, wonderful people.  The rooms are spotlessly clean and ours enjoyed lovely views out into the ocean.  Sitting on the balcony, sun shining, enjoying breakfast was a perfect way to start the day.  

This is a family run hotel and even the lovely mother/grandmother can be found watering her plants, organising rooms, etc.  she is so adorable, I wanted to fit her in my suitcase and bring her home.  She made me the most delicious mousakka on my penultimate day and despite my best efforts to eat it for breakfast and lunch, it was huge.  I froze it and brought it home to share with my work colleagues today and they have all requested delivery to the UK.

The rooms are serviced and have everything you need. Tea/coffee making  facilities and I would suggest it is situated the nicest part of Poros. Quick stroll, directly opposite to beach. Restaurants and baker’s minutes away (will review separately).  Boat trips go from the harbour along with rental boats at George’s, ferries, all within a 10-15 minute walk. I loved Poros, it is just so central, enjoys lovely restaurants without feeling like you have just arrived in a resort.  I was worried prior to my trip, with my extensive researching that 8 nights may be too long, but I will certainly stay longer on my next visit.

The owner of the hotel is wonderfully kind. Gave us lifts, shared information on buses, (can get busses to the capital, which links to the airport and Skala daily) tips on the local area and she can also organise trips, car hire & currency too. (I will put her direct email in pictures).  Rooms so incredibly reasonably priced.

I will never go back to a resort again, but I will return here and already plan to.  Looking forward to it already

Perfect Greek Getaway

We stayed here in July with our family for my 60th birthday trip and can honestly say that we received a very warm welcome from Efi who was waiting for us even though we arrived on a fairly late flight.
Nothing is too much trouble for Efi and her mother Zoe who run this small pension together, the whole feel about the place is relaxed and authentic, to the point that there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, but you have use of a small kitchen on the ground floor and there is a further one for people staying on the upper floor.

Breakfast is provided if you so require or you can prepare your own in the above mentioned kitchen.

The rooms are basic but extremely clean and airy and the sea facing front rooms are a true delight for an early get up to witness the amazing sunrise each morning

Pension Galini is situated at the far end of Poros and is very quiet for a totally relaxed holiday, you are however only minutes from a great beach and are surrounded by great tavernas

Recommended to those seeking somewhere authentic, relaxed and super friendly

Small, authentic and very friendly

Better late than never - I stayed here in June 2014. The hotel was incredibly clean, very friendly family running it who insisted on my friends and I having free coffee whenever we saw them, close to the beach, bars and restaurants. It was amazing at such a low price to find somewhere so great. No frills but why would you need them?
