Dimitropoulos Apartment Center of Aigio

We stayed at the Dimitropoulos Apartments at the recommendation of the best travel agent ever, Heather Dolstra of Democracy Travel in Washington, DC. Andreas Dimitropoulos was a welcoming host - warm, and not intrusive yet always incredibly helpful when we asked for recommendations for things to do. This is not a mainstream tourist destination, but it IS for those travelers who want to experience a real Greek holiday with local people, it is a delight! Every night, we were lulled to sleep by the ocean's sounds, comfortable in our cozy, immaculate 2-bedroom accommodations. Each morning, we awoke to the sun over the water and descended to the restaurant to be served a delicious breakfast of fresh yogurt, honey, toast, ham/cheese, fruit, and amazing coffee - and any evening when we requested, we were treated to amazing Greek dinners - our favorite was Dorado, a local fish grilled to perfectiont. The hotel is just a short walk down the waterfront road to pebbled beaches, calm turquoise waters, and incredible relaxation. We highly recommend this for those travelers looking for something not the traditional resort-style holiday - warm, relaxing, and a gentile, un-pressured getaway. Be sure to tour the Acheon winery in nearby Aigio, a family-owned and operated business where you'll be warmly welcomed and have the opportunity to taste some award-winning local wines.
