Athens Tiare by Mage Hotels

For context, we stayed in April. The hotel has a decent lobby - not fancy. Our rooms were quite large and absolutely fine. We were at the back of the hotel. One room had a small window and neither had a view. The aircon worked, which was useful even though it wasn't particularly hot outside. WiFi worked well for all of us. I don't think tea and coffee were replenished every day, but we got supplies from the lobby. Hotel staff were nice and definitely helpful. Overall, the hotel was functional and I had nothing to complain about. I mainly want to say that the hotel location is very good. After booking, I realised that some warn against staying in Omonia, so I was concerned about that. However, the square was fine at night (we were out until about 10pm). Loads of people and traffic about. The Omonia metro station is very handy, and we didn't feel the slightest bit troubled at night, although we didn't use it much because everyhing is so near. We generally walked back at night from the centre up Stadiou or Panepistiou - both perfectly pleasant assuming you don't mind "urban." The other bonus of Omonia square is that it's easy to wonder into Akadimia to the east - a little out of the way and it has nice places to eat. You have easy access to Psirri, Plaka, Syntagma, and so on, too. If you're bored of walking, it's only three stops to the Acropolis metro. On arrival, we took a cab from the airport to the hotel. It's in the 40 euro zone, so make sure you get the driver to acknowledge that before leaving! We took the metro back to the airport - and it takes between about 40mins and 1hr10 depending on the connection. The Attica bakery (two doors down from the hotel) is a great place for breakfast if you don't have it included at the hotel (we didn't take that option, even though it wasn't particularly expensive).
