The rooms look modern, they're relatively clean, and the hotel is right in front of the beach. But it is not a ‘serene haven’ as advertised due to the loud nearby bar, and the crowds taking over the beach between the hotel’s sun loungers and the edge of the sea. You also feel very exposed and not particularly safe on the ground floor rooms, as there is no security and nothing to prevent anyone walking in from the street and entering through the window or balcony door. However, the worse bit is the service! The room didn’t have wifi for most of our stay, we couldn’t even drink a fresh glass of water as the fridge in the room wasn’t cooling, the air condition wasn’t working properly either, we found make-up stains on the bathrobe as it hadn’t been changed since the last customers (when we mentioned to the owner, she asked us to tell the cleaners to change the bathrobe – the cleaners just picked it up from the floor and hang it up again!), the food was substandard (smelly chicken nuggets!) and made from frozen despite advertised as fresh, and they are trying to cheat customers, and charge or save on anything imaginable – even the rubbish bags were too small for the bin in the room with the litter spilling over all the time, they charge for icecubes and charged us 1 euro for a spoonful of ketchup, claiming that it is a sauce! The sun loungers are 35 euro and are sold as a set only (although saying differently in the receipt they gave us upon check out), and we only found out when we checked out that they charge 0.80 euro for a small water we ordered on the beach (they didn't provide a receipt when they served it, and it came with the sun lounger in previous years, so didn't even think to ask!). Most shocking was the owner’s behaviour, patronising and passive aggressive, she did not apologise once for all the things that were wrong, and kept whinging all the time about other customers to us, and admitted that she meddles with the booking.com availability to control if the type of customers who book suit her. Clearly she’s in the wrong job! She also had asked for a 50% deposit and we have subsequently found out that by law she can only ask for up to 25%. Appalling service for a 200 euro standard double room, and thoroughly regret having booked there.

it was great but we had a problem with a bar nearby named Ono that was blasting music all day long the sea was also great and the food was very good for the price all in all 7/10 and the food was very nice restaurant and I was very happy with it as well get to the point

We left Calma almost a week ago, still thinking about it.  It’s a haven of peace, calm and hospitality next to the beach.  

Early check in was no problem straight off the ferry and got into the room, had a quick lie down on the bed and from that point we suspected we were onto a winner. 

All the team are exceptional and work incredibly hard and it shows, the room was modern, beautifully styled, absolutely spotless (like the rest of the hotel) and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast was a delight and there’s a few great places to eat within easy walking distance for evening meals.  The beach is sandy and perfect for swimming, Calma’s sunbeds are constantly cleaned and maintained, and the team look after you without being intrusive. 

Our aim was to take a bit of a pause and a deep breath after everything that 2020 has thrown at us - mission accomplished. 

Wishing Calma all the best for the future in these uncertain times. 

Left a lot calma than when we arrived 

We asked for extra ice cubes for our ice tea and we were charged extra 0.50€ for it! Tourist police should get to know that! This is not allowed! 
- the guys serving us were excellent however the owner tragically cheating on tourists 

We were charged the ICE cubes! 👎🏻 they cheat charging 0.50€ for ice and providing invoice for water 

Words can not describe this beautiful location.

There are three locations for beach umbrellas on the beach. 

Calma is exceptional as a whole.

Cost of umbrella and bed is more expensive than the other two locations, but look at menus of all 5hree locations and you will see that the prices at Calma are 1/2 to 1/3 cheaper.

Best parts of visit are:

1. the staff (M**** and G*****, you guys were exceptional hosts.), 
2. the cleanliness of the bathroom/toilets (spotless is an understatement).
3. the food portion was very large, very tasty and very cheap (normal prices).
4. that Calma being the far left location of the three was less congested overall and the music heard from the first bar (far right) is not too loud. All you hear is a faint rythm.

In respect to general location, Agathopes, is the beach if you are with little kids and want a great relaxing environment.

Btw, been to all three locations, all good spots and good hosts, but this one for us was the best overall experience.

Fantastic hosts

Great spot in Agathopes beach, highly recommended, brand new , great decoration, amazing service, very polite great staff, the owner is great and polite, happy to assist.

It is a must visit if you are in Syros.

Excellent place

Wonderful boutique hotel nearby one of the most popular beaches of the island. The building has pictureque cycladic architecture, the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated and. The atmosphere is cosy and lively (by the beach), the staff is friendly and service is as expected, at high level. 

Best choice 

Nice confortable sun-beds, but overrated. Probably convenient to the hosts of the hotel and the beach is mostly frequented by families with young children. 
!!!when we wanted to use the toilet, were asked by the owners to wash off the sand from our flip-flops before entering!!! You are in a beach bar and you are not supposed to bring sand ?!??? Sorry...i’m always respectful of others labor, but this exceeded it given the circumstances... Blacklisted. 

Review of the beach bar

Nice, newly built boutique hotel at the most popular beach of Syros, with various restaurants and beach bars etc. Very nice architecture made with natural ecologic materials like mountain Stone , Wood. A really good energy place , minimal style, with perfect crystal clear private beach just in front , equipped with wooden sunbeds and nice exotic umbrellas perfect  to spend your day relaxing , reading and swimming.   Breakfast is very fair as well . And the service as well since we talk about a new age family owned property.
