Just visited for a Sunday lunch having visited the nearby monastery.  Place this on your list for food venues south of Stuttgart.  Great service and traditional upmarket German Fayre.  Would’ve love to have done the Xmas options but time was not our friend.  CV19 friendly @ 2G+ using BW protocols and we shall return for special occasions.  A little pricey but well worth it on balance.  frohe Weihnachten

Food Review

Excellent location for travelling to Tubingen and the east side of the Black Forest.  The rooms were larger than average, with a good level of furnishing.  Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. Parking spaces were ample for size of hotel. The evening meals were of an exceptionally high standard although clearly you have to pay for that quality.  The B&B price was excellent value.  The walks in the Schonbuch forest nearby are extensive and well marked. Within 5 minutes there is an interesting abbey/cloisters as well as a Schloss (where Kaiser Bill lived after his resignation in 1918) - the abbey/cloisters has a good audio guide in English but the Schloss can only be entered by purchasing a tour ticket (2 extra Euros) which is in German.  Overall we thought this hotel was a real find.

A real find

You get what you expect in this Landhausstyle 3*plus rated Hotel. Rooms are ok in size and nicely furnished with solid wooden furniture. It is quiet there, very quiet. So relax and enjoy. Enjoy also the heartfelt and excellent service, not only from the owners family but from all of the staff. 

Ok, it doesn’t have an elevator and electric outlets could be more. But this is complaining on high level. 

Make sure to buy drinks on your way to the hotel and put the in the fridge in the room. When the (excellent) restaurant is not operated you might get thirsty. 

One more thing. Pets welcomed!!

Very nice „Landhaus“ style hotel

It isn't the most elegant hotel and isn't that conveniently located to see the delightful nearby town of Tuebingen but the country village feeling, nearby cloister and family run feel make this a nice place to rest your head if you are wearied of big towns and impersonal large hotels. The plumbing could do with updating though. Hot water took a long time to come through in the morning. Breakfast was very generous.

Comforting like warm apple strudel

This is a lovely place to stay! A very personal touch. Wounderful staff. Beautiful setting some kilometers from the historic town of Tübingen. Excelent  food. Every room is unic and lovingly decorated. The breakfast buffet is great. The setting is perfect, right next to the castleI and church of Bebenhausen, with a faccinating history. Do stay here when visiting Tübingen - which you reach by car/taxi/bus in 10 minutes. If you're up for it you can wander through the beautiful landskape in to town. Dogs are very welcome.

A dream!

There are many great things about this hotel and I definitely do recommend it, but you should be aware of what you're getting and I cannot in good conscious give it five stars. 

The hotel is located in a very quiet town spitting distance from the Abbey, which is probably why you're interested in the area in the first place. There is easy drive-up, it has its own parking, and a wonderful restaurant (see my separate review of that, which does merit five stars). We had a spacious room, which was nice. 

Unfortunately, the mattresses on the beds were too soft. This didn't bother me too much, but it was a definite issue for my partner. So depending on whether you are sensitive to such things, you should keep that in mind. Also, there was no one at the reception when we arrived so we were a bit at a loss as to how to get in. We arrived at about 4:30pm so not an unheard of hour for hotel guests to arrive. There is a side door to the hotel and a main door to the restaurant, a distinction that is not obvious at first. We settled on trying the bell again at the side door and finally someone unlocked the door and let us in. We then had to take the narrow stairs and winding hallways to our room. It was charming, but also tight.

Given that the hotels in Tübingen proper did not tend to get great reviews, I was inclined to go with an alternative and overall was happy with this arrangement. It allowed us to unload and load our car without trouble and then drive into town the next day, leave our car in a parking lot and explore on foot. I would not have liked to navigate to a hotel in old town with all its pedestrian streets and steep inclines. If you're okay with soft mattresses, you will likely enjoy this place.

Note that street parking, which can be super convenient to the hotel entrance, requires a parking permit from the hotel. They'll give this to you free of charge, but be sure to get that before you go exploring.
