This place is beautiful. The staff is awesome. Limited evening menu, but it is wonderful.  Breakfast buffet is good and hits the spot. Love the scenery, all the authentic woodwork and furnishings. This is a hidden gem.  Worth the drive to see a piece of heaven.

What a beautifully charming hotel.  Set in amazing surroundings.  Room spotless, if a little warm. Bed super comfortable, however, if you like a firm pillow you will need to take your own.  Food was delicious.  Standard continental breakfast, plenty of choice of cold meats, cheese breads etc.,  Toast and jam, cereal, yoghurt, fruit.  Evening meal two choices of meat, veg and pasta, rice or chips.  The highlight each night for me was the soup, different every night and delicious.

We absolutely loved our stay here. 
The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We barely knew a word of German but they really loved us trying and found it so funny every time I spoke French by accident. 
This hotel is in quite a remote area and we were just passing through on our way to visit Burg Eltz but we wish we were staying longer. 
The room was huge and we have a lovely balcony and view of the area. It was so quite and peaceful. 
Dinner was delicious. It was a buffet and there was so much choice. I indulged in a few portions of Flemish stew. 
This hotel is cash only so make sure you withdraw some money before coming here. 

I highly recommend this hotel and I would like to thank the staff for being so charming and making us laugh and smile our entire stay. 

The hotel is on a secondary road away from the main route along the river, so it is a peaceful location, plus the rooms (ours, and most if not all of the others) are away from the road. Our room was large and had a great large balcony. But the bathroom was a little plain and you need to bring your own soaps; they don't even supply hand soap. The towels were small and rough and the mattresses were foam, though they were fine, and there were extra blanket if you needed them. Lots of storage space. No elevator. The buffet breakfast is fine and the restaurant is not bad. The staff are all friendly and helpful and did us a couple of valuale favors. They don't speak much English. Plenty of parking. The village is on a nice part of the river.

We have visited the Waldeck on a regular basis both on organised trips and under our own steam since Christmas 1998. The hotel is typical of the Mosel region and the friendliness of the staff is what one finds in Die Mosel Laender.  The hotel hasn't changed in the time we have visited even after the tragic loss Gerhard (Gary), Brigitte's husband.  

On this visit for the Christmas Markets the hotel was providing for the first time a buffet instead of the usual set table service.Over four nights there was always a choice of two main meals plus starters of soup or salad and a dessert. Enough to suit any taste and appetite.

The only drawback in our opinion with this hotel is that no in house entertainment is provided. A short walk down towards the river offers one with the opportunity of visiting a number of very traditional wine bars and a restaurant, open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A great chance to use your German!

Coach trip for the Christmas Markets

A cute hotel full of character and charm

Wonderful peaceful country hotel in scenic location, though it lacks some amenities.

Clean friendly and reliable

Just spent 4 nights at this hotel, it is very basic but also very clean, the wifi is terrible and you have to log in all the time with a voucher, the hotel does not accept debit or credit cards due to the poor Wi-Fi so get some cash to pay the bill.
There is no shower get or shampoo provided so don't forget to bring some as there are no local shops, there are some restaurants locally and that's about it.
The staff are lovely and very helpful and we had a nice room with a terrace to sit on and look at the gnomes! but we did see a deer one night.

Good for walkers

I don't quite understand the "excellent" ratings for this place. Yes it's quiet and clean, but that really should be expected rather than anything special.

For €70 a night we got a large characterless room with an okay shower room, cheap bedding, a very basic breakfast and a hotel full of weird stuffed furry animals. Oh and I forgot the over-sized gnomes staring in from the forest edge.

It's not a bad place to stay but I don't see why this place would score more than average by any experienced traveller.
