Central, good service, exellent breakfast. Spacious rooms, no elevator. Authentic building. No own parkingspace, luggage dropoff possible. Owner talkative has good information and local knowledge. Advisable

Quality 

We were invited by our children for a week end in Monschau !
Burghotel is really at center of the town and his manager Mister Jimmy very kind and helpfull !
As wel it is an original "old" building, rooms are perfect with typical "old" furniture .... but our bathroom and toilets were new style and very clean !
Breakfast is tremendous and ... mr Jimmy pushes you to eat ALL of it !
Good experience with only a very bad point ......Payment by credit card was impossible ... (due to problems ?!?!) ..... Same out connexion in the restaurant Rur Hotel (see this review) !
It was very strange because two normal Souvenirs Shop had connexion the same day and we were only notified at departure payment !!!

A Week End in Monschau

As seemed to be the case of most hotels in Monschau this is an old building and it has its quirks, most of which are mentioned in other reviews - steep, narrow stairs, dated, somewhat old-smelling lobby, etc. But for the money it's fine. WiFi was available in the room on the 2nd floor (American 3rd). The beds are quite soft/springy but were just barely OK for a sensitive back. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you need a firm bed. The church bells are a real issue for the back rooms especially, but at least you'll get an early start on your sight-seeing. :^)
Breakfast was wonderful. Crisp rolls, cheese, meats, an egg and all the other usual bits. Anything that was left you could make sandwiches of for a bag lunch. The owner was really nice, offering to drive us up the hills, giving advice on things to do and, when we checked out, he gave us a bag of chocolates for the drive. 
Overall a nice visit.

Adequate, spotless room, awesome owner

The hotel owner does not live on site, but met our family at the door to give keys and directions to parking. Our room had a small seating area with a table. The bed was two singles with separate duvets and electric controls. The bathroom was small with a jetted shower (the jets did not work). Hand soap was furnished, but there were no fancy amenities.The included breakfast was delightful with homemade quick breads, cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, juice and coffee. Each place had a cooked egg with a felted hat to keep it warm. And the owner offered an omelet when we entered. I echo the warning about the bells which began ringing at 7am; I did not time them, but feel they rang for 10 minutes. Monschau is a charming town. We would stay at this delightful hotel again.

Charming comfort

This small, family-run hotel is ideally located in the centre of Monschau.  The English-speaking proprietor, who also runs the linen shop below, was very friendly and helpful.  We were able to drop off bags at the door and then park in the nearby lot.  (There is also some on-street parking which is free after 5pm to 10am.)  

Our room on the 3rd floor (4th by N.American standards) was accessed by a steep, narrow staircase with a rope bannister.  Consider this if you have mobility issues or big suitcases.  The room was large, with ancient exposed beams and a cozy little seating area.  There were two comfortable single sleigh beds pushed together, with separate duvets, which is quite normal for Germany.  The bathroom was also very large, with a full bathtub/shower, basic amenities and excellent hot water pressure.  Although the decor is old, the room and bathroom were absolutely spotless.  The same could really be said about the entire property; it all looks a bit worn, but every inch of it is very clean.  

Free wifi worked great, but there is only German TV.

Breakfast was fantastic!--Individual platters of lovely meats & cheeses brought to our table, along with fresh orange juice, hot hard-boiled eggs, fresh bread rolls & croissants, preserves and a big pot of coffee.

Monschau is a lovely village and we are happy that we stayed the night in order to enjoy drinks on a nice terrace near the river and a good, hearty German dinner at one of the local restaurants.  I can easily recommend this hotel but, be warned, the church bells start to ring early--and frequently.
