This is an old and characterful establishment, but it feels distinctly dated. In comparison with a vineyard B&B we stayed at further along the river, the room at Gute Quelle was half the size, rather dingily decorated, with a tiny en-suite shower and toilet. The other place saw us in a large, light and airy room with a large separate private bathroom. 
Our room at Gute Quelle was clean and the bed was comfortable, but it suffered from cooking and tobacco smoke smells which wafted in from the courtyard below.
The restaurant/bar was never busy. We ate there one evening, and we were the only customers for most of the time. You have to wonder how they make it pay - the answer might by by charging 70% more for relatively inferior accommodation. It’s not exactly in the centre of the town either, most of the action - restaurants etc. are on the other side of the river, a good 15 minutes walk away.
Overall, it was adequate, though relatively poor value for money. There's nothing actually wrong with this place, and the owners are friendly enough. but I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Adequate but uninspiring

The owner was very friendly and helpful. It’s several minutes walk to the guest’s room. It look okay but a little bit hot and a bit small the bathroom is a bit narrow as well. We’re enjoyed for our one night stayed and a lovely breakfast. 

For a short break

My wife and I stayed here for three days in July.

It is situated on the opposite bank of the Mosel to the centre of Cochem itself, which we felt was an advantage as that way you have the view of the town and it's landmark castle.

We walked from the station to get to the hotel which meant we stumbled first upon its second, overspill accommodation and were happy to book in here to avoid further walking. Consequently I can't pass judgement on the main hotel though we were reliably informed by the owner that the rooms are of the same standard and if anything, larger.

Like all the German hotels that we stayed in, to place was spotless. Perfectly adequate for a short stay. But that really sums it up - adequate and dare I say, somewhat dull. The overall impression was of a very clean hotel room - from 1978. It was very dated. And that sense of being in a time warp carried through to breakfast which given the quality of produce no doubt available was really quite bland. Carton juice, a boiled egg and ok bread with jam. Again all fine but times and expectations have changed.

I should say that the landlord and lady were very attentive.

Note that like a lot of places in this part of the world, there was no wifi available unless you went to the restaurant and then it was patchy.

Perfectly acceptable but dated hotel.

I spent 2 nights in the appartment of Hotel Gute Quelle. It is located opposite their restaurant, so it is close for breakfast and dinner. I was very satisfied with the meal. Landlords are very helpful. Neighborhood is quiet. Cochem is splendid historical city with many wine bars and good wines. After a long evening celebration, next day I forgot my mobile phone in the appartment. After just one e-mail Landlord sent me my handy by mail in the Czech Republic. I can definitely recommend this friendly hotel.

Honest Hotel Landlord

Stayed at Hotel Gute Quelle's Guest House (Annex) for 3 nights a while ago, and we were pleased. It took a while to find the place after check-in at the hotel, but to find the hotel's parking space was even more difficult! Well, it was all due to late arrival (it was very dark). The Guest House is about 5 min. walk from the hotel, but it was ok. The Guest house was even closer to the town center. One of our rooms had a nice view to the castle.
The breakfast was good: coffee, tea, fresh bread, eggs, cheese, cutlets, juice etc. The lady of the hotel was very friendly, and she kept asking "Alles gut" everytime we ran into her!
It was also very quiet in the Guest House, we had no trouble sleeping.
