Myself and the other half stayed here for 4 nights for our first visit to paris. It is a 3 minute walk from the arc de triomphe and the major metro station 'Charles de Gaule - Etoile' offering rapid access to ever major attraction and the RER to disneyland.

The room was clean, tidy, and the bed was very very comfy. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels in the bathroom so thumbs up to houskeeping. 

The room was beautifully furnished. A junior suit (room 19 4th floor) We both loved the period style furniture. It made us feel like we were in the 1940's which for us was a good thing. It had lots of natural light from two windows and a balcony (shared) looking out on to the street below.

The bathroom had a nice hot powerful shower, large mirrors, hairdryer and soaps.

All members of staff were curtious/polite  and helpful. There were no language barriers and we were made to feel very welcome so would like to thank all staff.

As other reviews stated there is no elevator...we are both very fit so the spiral staircase up to the very top was no issue for us but if you can't walk up a couple flights of stairs look elsewhere and save your complaints for somewhere else. 

We cannot comment on food as we did not eat here. We were in paris for the first time so we ate in as many different cafes and restaurants as we could. Breakfast in a cafe by the seine was more appealing.

Other reviews complain about the shared balcony. We found it no problem. I was on it every morning and didn't see anyone else. Privacy was not an issue. If it was... the door locked and was secure and there were curtains to shut or even an electric shutter for paranoid folk.

Overall if you want a hotel that has unusual style and taste, has great location and wont break your budget or bank balance this hotel will suit you fine.

If you don't like stairs or want a modern furnished room look for somewhere else.

We will happily return here again in the future! 👍

Excellent Hotel Great Location 

We arrived to a nice receptionist then after clambering up three flights if stairs, opened the door still holding the door knob in my hand, the wardrobe was hopeless, only one hanger, and a screwed up blanket inside, the bathroom, glass door never fitted the frame leaving the door slightly open. Then after looking for the cups for a drink found out that they do not provide such luxury and have to purchase one. What was good? The location,  my view poor and will never return.

Disappointing

Location of this little hotel is excellent - just off the Arc de Triomphe, and the salubrious Ave Foch.  You can walk to all the major tourist sights from here.  The area itself is quiet,  with relatively fewer restaurants in close vicinity, though in Paris you are never far from food and drink and I found a lovely little corner nearby equipped with a boulangerie, chacuterie, italian pizzeria and delicatessen, french bistro and fresh pasta takeaway joint , all serving yummy stuff. The hotel is elderly and shabby but clean and very quaint - you feel like you are in a 1940s movie. No elevator so be ready for a climb up the spiral stairs, but the young man on duty when I arrived very obligingly helped me with my bag. I would not recommend the single rooms, mine was claustrophobically small, but the junior suite I moved into subsequently was spacious and furnished with interesting period furniture. A generous continental breakfast, served at a communal dining table where I witnessed the French breakfast  habit of dipping everything from pain au chocolate to buttered baguette into a milky coffee.  The service was friendly, and unobtrusive, with a waft of colonial Africa as the maid carried a load of fresh linen up the stairs balanced cleverly on her head!  All in all, excellent value for money given the very central location.

A quaint experience

I have twice stayed at the Hotel residence Chalgrin.  When I return to Paris I will stay again.  Their location is perfect - close to the Arc de Triomphe and easy access from CDG airport using the Air France shuttle bus.  They are also very close to the subway.  

The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the property is very nice.  The only negative is they do not have a lift so if traveling heavy or otherwise unable to walk up stairs reserve a lower level room.

Stayed twice, excellent location, reasonable price, nice staff, and nice hotel.

This hotel has a great location and is just a stones throw from the Arc de Triomphe, the metro, and convinient to many of the sites to visit in Paris. On arrival we found out however there was no elevator, no porter, and the front desk person was not willing to assist with the luggage after giving us a room on the 4th floor. The room was cozy, clean, but definately showed lots of wear.  The bathrooom however was the shocke, basically a closet with a frosted glass door that really did nothing for privacy, and the balcony turned out to our suprise be one open and shared with the other rooms on this floor. We would not consider staying here again, even though we liked where it was situated and found the hotel had some charm.
