How dreadful can a hotel be?  I gave it a terrible rating only because there is nothing worse.  It was primitive, the amenities resembled a cross between a youth hostel of the 1950s and a hostel for down and outs.

The room decor was at best hideous and as for the shower room don't even ask.  The cost was inordinate when measured against value.  

My advice if you can't get n anywhere else either sleep in the car or sleep rough.  It could not be worse than this awful place.

Probably the worst hotel we have stayed.

What a lovely place to stay. Clean, comfortable room with adequate facilities in a beautiful peaceful setting. Thanks to the friendly welcoming staff, who made allowances for my poor French!  A lively bar/restaurant with good food including local specialities. Not too far from St Malo (though taxis are quite expensive so a car would be useful) and set in beautiful countryside.

A Welcome at the Inn

Looking on booking.com for somewhere close to saint malo we came across this hotel and were taken by rooms with sea views. How pleased we were. All the rooms have sea views over a bar and restaurant. There is a terrace that gets the sun all day where you can have drinks or a meal whilst watching the boating activity on the estuary and on the private moorings. The hotel is within easy distance of both saint malo and Dinard whilst being hidden away in the countryside. The food was superb and you can choose between a relaxed lunch or dinner or go upmarket with their al a carte menu. The staff are helpful and friendly and try their best to speak English. The rooms are clean and adequate and the bed was so comfy we didn't want to get up. Would thoroughly recommend this hidden away hotel.

Two day break

My wife and I stayed one night in May 2014. First impressions were based on location and view which is wonderful. We ordered a chiken dish which arrived at our table as overcooked fish and pasta. There was no seasoning and no taste; we could not eat it. Staff were not bothered and quite rude.
Rooms are over pub and it seems that every night is a drunken party night. At 1 pm I went down to ask for the music to be turned down and was told this is a pub and you should have known that when you booked.
A grat pity this could be superb but the cooking was the worst that I have experienced in France and the owners were obviously local peasants.

A Pub not an Hotel

It does not give a good first impression when you arrive at a hotel on a Monday afternoon, with a confirmed booking for two rooms,to find it in darkness and silent with a sign scribbled on a blackboard outside saying "fermé lundi et mardi"
Bit of a surprise to say the least.
No response to our ringing of the doorbell, so used our mobile phone to call the hotel phone number. Still no response.
Made the reservation thro' Booking.com so called their number ( an international call on a payg mobile!) and hung on while they tried, again unsuccessfully, to contact the hotel. They then cancelled the booking for us, at our request and at no cost. 
We decided to try to find somewhere else by ourselves for the night as I know the area and there are many places much cheaper to choose from.
Suddenly we saw a woman pass by the window in the bar, she noticed us and came to the door. A cleaner it turned out. We explained our situation and she invited us in and gave us two rooms and rang the owner. We decided to give it a go and stay there.
However, the hotel was closed for our visit and we were alone there. It is in an isolated location. A young lady did come along before we went to bed and asked if we wanted breakfast in the morning and we did. Again, we were just the 3 of us for that. We grudgingly paid our bill and left. A lot of money under the circumstances for what should have been a super final night for my mothers visit to see us in France.

I cannot recommend this hotel at all, after the arrival fiasco, my impression was already bad. I did not like the gaudily coloured bedrooms ( purple, pink and lime green in one!)  nor the location, nor the poor breakfast, nor the staff ( such as we saw). It was not friendly and we felt like intruders. Luckily we did not rely on being able to eat at their restaurant. On the plus side the beds were comfortable and the water hot and the view over the river was pretty.
There are plenty of better places to stay in the area, so unless you really need boat access, don't bother with the Jersey Lillie.
