Just returned from a week in Chalet Kandahar, Chalet 3, in Les Eucherts. 
The chalet was lovely, warm,
and inviting, and our hosts Courtney and Zach could not have been more welcoming.
We were the only guests in the chalet, and the attention to detail and flexibility around our arrangements were second to none. 
Late breakfasts, early breakfasts, special dietary requirements etc, all accommodated superbly. 
Our room was on the top floor with magnificent panoramic views across the valley to Les Arcs (beware the very steep steps in these rooms though!) 
Assistance with passes and kit hire, was first rate, with top notch kit supplied by the local SkiSet Olympic Sports. 

Last, but not least, the food. Spoilt for choice at breakfast, with cold and cooked selections. 
Home-cooked afternoon cake, for those who want it and excellent three course meals for 6 of the 7 nights. Zach and Courtney are both outstanding cooks, and delivered some memorable meals. You definitely will not go hungry staying here. 

The chalet is a short 10min walk to the lift and you can ride back to within 2mins walk of the heated boot room. 

La Rosiere is a brief 10-15min walk via a beautiful woodland path. Would thoroughly recommend Bar L’Avalanche, first on the right, as you reach La Ros. 

Would definitely recommend this chalet for anyone looking for a homely, warm, welcoming winter break, with great food. 


Fantastic Kandahar

We have just returned from Christmas in Chalet Kandahar 4 that we booked with The Alpine Generation. We had a fabulous week; chalet hosts Courtney, Zach and Matt were brilliant, they couldn’t really do enough for us and cooked two separate additional birthday cakes for our party.  The food was plentiful and delicious - breakfast was lovely and our Christmas dinner was fantastic.  The chalet is quite small but cosy, as we were a group that wasn’t a problem. The chalets are in a good location right next to the wooded walk in to La Rosiere but a short walk to the lift at Les Eucherts. Hot tub was great - outside with a fantastic view of the mountains. Our transfer from Geneva was organised through Alpine Generation and that was really efficient and great value.  We booked quite last minute and so it was great value all round.  Highly recommend. We would stay there again.


Cosy comfortable chalet - great overall

It would have been easier to script a glancing review of this very cosy chalet, but that would be remiss to omit focus on the outstanding service provided by chalet host Kirsty and her team colleagues. 

Yes, we enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, the rooms were warm and comfortable, the chalet well laid out, but let’s get to the rub: the service was ‘par excellence’! 
Of special note:

Wholesome and plentiful meals;
Even accommodating guests with food intolerances, with no prior notice given (some expect nothing less);
Delicious homemade cakes; 
Perfectly good matching wines were complimentarily offered (and in plentiful supply);
Complete attention to guest satisfaction;
Atmosphere of friendliness and constant willingness to help. 

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff: transfers, lift passes, guides/lessons, tickets to local ice hockey match, equipment rental were all organised efficiently, etc. All those little extras made our stay that little more special. The food was enjoyed by adults and children alike. When one of the guests wanted something slightly different, minutes later freshly made alternatives appeared on the table. 

For any reader suspicious about whether the weather played a major role in our enjoyment, we endured temperatures at -35’C (incl. wind chill factor). However, one of the beauties of La Roz is that you can ski directly through to La Thuile and be shaded from occasional spells of high winds.

We believe you will be hard-pressed to find a better combination of quality accommodation and excellent customer service than we experienced during our stay at Kandahar. We can offer only the highest commendation for the combination of these service elements, but the highlight of these complements must be reserved for Kirsty and her ever-willing Crystal colleagues.

Great chalet, 5 mins from Les Eucherts chair lift. Decent sized rooms and fairly well equipped.  

Book with caution - We were asked for a €2k deposit on the 2nd day, we were told by Rep Alexandre that this was just a holding deposit.  

We are still waiting for this deposit to be returned.  They were never supposed to physically take it from our account, but they did. So just be very aware. They must be making an absolute fortune on interest if this is how they treat their clients. 

Beware, they'll say they'll take a holding deposit then actually take €2k from your account, we are still waiting to get the mon

The le Kitz chalet is in the Les Chalets du Kandahar block but is completely separate with its own front door but does share the basement boot room with the other chalets. It is about a 300 metre walk down to the chair lift at Les Eucherts and 500 metres in the opposite direction to La Rosière village centre. 
We were in room 3 on the ground floor with twin beds, built in wardrobe and bathroom with shower. It is shall we say a compact room with only space for the beds and a bedside cabinet. Be aware that the rooms do not lock although there are combination locks on the front door and boot room.
One niggle is there is only one power socket in the room which is behind the bedside cabinet. The only other socket is in the bathroom next to the washbasin which made us wary of recharging our phones and tablets in case of water spillage. Heating is a  convector heater in the bedroom and heated towel rail in the bathroom. Unfortunately the towel rail ceased working after 3 days. Although the rep tried to fix it he had to put a call out for an electrician who did not arrive during our stay. Consequently our towels never fully dried and although we requested and were supplied with replacements the bathroom did eventually feel damp. 
The lounge on the first floor was comfortable with a couple of large sofas, chairs, bean bags, TV and honesty bar etc. All 12 guests share a large square table with wooden benches which involved a lot of passing around plates etc. at meal times. The food generally was adequate but could have been better especially the breakfasts. However we did find the generous complimentary wine at the evening meal excellent.

Adequate but average

This is my second visit to the chalet and was seriously disappointed this time.  We returned as we had a great experience first time round under previous management.   this is the first year with new management and the standard has dropped dramatically.  We were without coffee squash and juice for days and as our chalet host told me “this is not a luxury chalet and my budget is limited”.  No pastries for bfast.  Having to put a baby to bed after a day full of skiing we asked if 2 of us could use the hot tub till 8.30. We were told no as this would annoy the owners who lived next door.  Needless to say we promised that we would be extremely quiet but there was no flexibility at all.  We were also told they locked up the hot tub at 7pm even though the chalet book clearly said it was available for use till 8pm.  This meant we only got to use it once in our stay.  One of our group was injured and there was no information anywhere in the chalet book about nearby medical centers.  The chalet manager did not answer phone or texts for over 2 hours which meant we ended up calling the hospital and knocking on a neighbors door asking for help to get to a hospital to avoid an ambulance call out.In summary service was poor, quality of food was poor (a couple of meals were inedible) chalet host were not helpful and just wanted to do as little as possible and leave with little care for guests.
