Fabulous villa, furnished with style and elegance situated within 10 minutes walk from the Cité, in a quiet and  unobtrusive spot.Rooms were pleasantly cool ( air conditioned) and spacious, beds generous and comfortable. Many of the rooms have a view towards the Cité.
 The property has a lovely shaded garden with a swimming pool - a green oasis in the heart of the town. The hosts are charming and welcoming  and offer an  abundance of useful local information.  
Breakfast was served in the stately dining room with fresh and tasty local produce
.On site private parking,was a bonus, ideal if this is a stopping off point on a longer trip.
 

Elegant and spacious old hotel with garden and pool 

On arrival Marianne very helpful and showed us around. The hotel is, it must be said, quite complicated with manual support required to access the garage and the door locks also seem unnecessarily tricky.

Overall, the hotel is rather faded and this extends to the rooms. Old furniture spanning different  styles and eras.

The formula here leans towards self catering facilities, with a fully equipped kitchen in our small room  (including a dishwasher and washing machine???).

There were cleanliness issues throughout, leaving a musty smell everywhere. The bathroom in our room had some mould growing on untreated wood in the shower.

The garden is unkempt and grounds need work. Pool looked nice.

Breakfast was plentiful, served at a communal table; not to everyone’s taste.

Nobody manning the bar unless you make an external phone call!

The entire place needs significant investment, so if you like these throwback places, it is recommended that you go soon, because it is unsustainable in this format for very much longer.

It was once a grand house, but now finds itself opposite the town prison and surrounded by social housing.

Price is competitive.

Faded grandeur

The hotel is in an ideal location close to to walled city which is a short uphill walk away. Stephane has several recommendations for restaurants and our choice was very nice No 37. Breakfast was fine but the whole hotel and gardens just needed a bit more attention to detail regarding tidiness.

Good one night stop over

Charming house and host. Good traditional breakfast. Excellent location, with many good restaurants within walking distance. Perfect for our needs en route to Italy. Would stay again if in Carcassonne.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is Fantastic, beautifully decorated and the rooms very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious every day. The owners couldn't do enough for us. The swimming pool is beautiful and I would love to come back!

Fantastic stay!

Absolutely loved staying at the beautiful manor house. Loved the swimming pool as it was gorgeous coming back after a busy day sightseeing for a fantastic swim to cool off. 
Fantastic hosts. So close to the old cite and over the medieval bridge to the new/old town. We were in the rouge room. Gorgeous We'd definitely stay here again. 


Gorgeous Manor House

Beautiful old house in Carcassonne with an amazing view of La cite.  Everything we needed in the Cabardes apartment.  Secure parking.  Pool to relax and cool down in after a days sightseeing.
Remember not to pack too much as the apartments are up 3 flights of stairs

Historic house

This is a beautiful hotel and a great place to explore le cite. My only concern is the outside as it was very scruffy and unkempt. The interior is very classically French and the rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. The outside pool is not heated.

CENTRAL LOCATION FOR LE CITE.

A charming couple run this B&B in a beautiful 18th Century grand house with stunning views of the Cite de Carcassonne. Nice room with coffee and tea making facilities. Private and secluded parking area as well as a new swimming pool with jacuzzi too.

Beautiful rooms in a classic building - centrally located

We had a one night stopover in Demeure Saint-Louis. 

The booking process was very easy with prompt responses and it gave us an initial indication of how welcoming Stéphane and Marianne would be. 

The secure on site car parking area is perfect as we could park up and not worry about leaving the car especially as the proximity to the main sightseeing meant the car was not needed. 

Our room was the Sabjar which had dual aspect onto the garden and the medieval city. The room was spacious enough for us and our two dogs, beautifully decorated and maintained and well equipped with a minibar, safe and refreshments. The little alcove with sofa was a perfect space to enjoy a coffee and marvel at the view of the city across the roof tops. 

Exploring the medieval city was the main draw to Carcassonne for us. It was easily reached from the hotel by foot via a winding street of restaurants and bars. It is vast and marvellously well preserved and I cannot recommend a visit highly enough. The streets are lined with gift shops full of Carcassonne branded tea towels etc if that's your thing, but they didn't detract from the beauty of the buildings. There are also lots of bars and restaurants. We enjoyed a couple of unrushed glasses of Corbière in Le Bar à Vins - a perfect location to just sit, sip and take in the atmosphere. 

For dinner, we opted to order a menu complet at the maison d'hôtes as we are vegetarian and enjoyed a feast of fresh, tasty dishes cooked by Stéphane and presented by Marianne. We later discovered this was his first time cooking for vegetarians so top marks for taking this on and producing such a delicious and varied meal. The sumptuous dining room setting and the general ambiance made for an unforgettable evening. 

We both slept well in the comfortable bed and enjoyed a tasty breakfast before taking one last walk along the river and checking out. 

In summary, I would highly recommend Demeure Saint-Louis for a stay when visiting Carcassonne. We really do hope to return and look forward to seeing the garden, pool and tub when they are completed.
