I selected Inari for my third attempt to see the Northern Lights because it was attractive for other reasons too. There are a diverse range of activities, and it is the heart of Sami culture in Finland, which I find interesting.

I chose Villa Lanca Guest House because of its location- right next to the main supermarket, a few hundred metres from a good restaurant, and most importantly a 2 minute walk from the bus stop- which is important when you have a very early bus out of town on your last day.

All I was really looking for was a fairly priced, central location with a clean bed. I got so much more. My room was absolutely lovely and immaculate, with good facilities.

The owner, Sato, was super kind and nothing seemed too much trouble for her. She  offered excursions but not in a pushy way at all . I had already booked my activities sadly, but i sort of regretted it, because Sato had so many options I hadn't seen online. She was helpful suggesting option for free self-guided hikes, and things to do on the lake. Basically she knew the area and had lots of ideas to share with visitors.

i was keen to try some snowshoeing as I'd never done it before. I expected to have to pay for a short guided excursion- but Sato sorted this out too. Knowing I only needed a bit of an experience, she lent me some snow shoes and told me how to get to the frozen lake to give it a go. I thought that was very kind.

I really enjoyed my stay at Villa Lanca- the location is literally the best in town, the price is I think the fairest in town, and the owner really looks after her guests and maintains a superb facility.

Could Not Have Asked for  a Better Base!

We got here at night, called the number on the door and got a room without any hustle. Clean, comfortable room with big bathroom, a minifridge and a water boiler.
Breakfast was homemade bread with cheese, ham and veggies, coffee and juice.

Very nice and absolutely nothing to complain about. The owner is apparently saami and you can buy their handmade crafts here. 

Absolutely great

Everything was great. Starting with very friendly staff, clean room to delicious breakfast with homemade buns in the morning. We only stayed at Villa Lanca for one night but it was a pleasant stay. Upon arrival we were told that there’s a chance to see the Northern Lights in the evening, even thou it’s still August. We took the advice and went out on a chase. We did see them! And it was amazing. Thank you! 

Great stay! 

We was with my wife and son on Husky activity December 2018. It's was soo great. We had superior service out there. Funny dog's and amazing Horses. We have now sooo many great pictures. There was guide: Alex, he help's us soo much, keep's us warm and took so much pictures. I must Thank him alot about care my family. Hes really good as in this work. My wife and son respect him. And Thank you for all service at RideNorth. Best.

Husky Activity In Best Conditions.

I have this hotel 4 starts because the staff (a young boy) was very friendly and was keen on his guests feeling at home.
I loved the breakfast area, which was carefully decorated and felt cozy. Breakfast was very good, too.
The bed was a bit shaky with a very thin and too soft mattress, and the bed cover did not keep one very warm. The room was clean, though, even if the bathroom looked a bit rudimentary.

Cozy hotel, but rooms could be improved

We stayed in 2 different rooms in 2 nights due to booking separately. The first night in a room with open kitchen and a table. The second one was standard twin room and smaller in size. Both were clean and in good condition, but the mattress was thin and bedsheet for one of the rooms was old and made you feel unclear. The water in bathroom was hot and strong. Suggest to add shower frame to avoid the whole bathroom all wet after shower. Location was very good. It was just opposite to Hotel Inari and close to the Lake, supermarket and tour office.

Clean guest house and great location

When we arrived, the room was cold, the electric heaters set on 15C. As we had booked well in advance, we would have expected to have a warm room upon arrival.
The furnishings look like they have just been bought at a garage sale or flea market, 
When we asked about breakfast, the landlady said that she had no time to bother whith preparing breakfast. There is a kitchen/dining room, but our key didn't granted us access to it. We bought what we needed at the nearby supermarket. There was a kettle and 2 mugs in the room, but no spoons,knives ou plates.
There is a green EXIT sign above the door IN the room. The green light is on all the time ( powerful one!) and at night it is a real problem.
We felt this place is absolutely overpriced for what you get.

Disappointing

Villa Lanca eco resort, Inari.

Villa Lanca offers not only accommodation in the village of Inari, but also a “super nice eco resort” as they call it themselves.
Please, do not believe one word of it.
We have many complaints. We informed the owner (Satu) about our complaints, to give her a chance to avoid publication on the internet, but she did not give any reaction. So now we put our complaints on the internet to inform future travelers.

September 2018 we rented 2 cabins and we spend 2 nights in that “super nice eco resort” as the owner,  Satu, called the accommodation. . 
Our stay has been very, very disappointing. Absolutely we did not got what was promised by Satu. We found a badly equipped “eco resort” and a mess around.  

We have many points to complain about. We just give a selection, otherwise the review will be huge..

	In the resort WiFi would be available. No WiFi at all.
	There would be a sauna. No working sauna there.
	There would be a shower. No shower to find. 
	There would be a possibility to charge telephones. There was not.
	Upon arrival the gasbottle in one of the cabins was empty. We had to wait till 21.00h before a new bottle was installed. In September it is already cold. 
	There were no bins in the rooms or in the kitchen.
	To the toilet we had to go through a mess and soil. Was it a compost toilet as said to us? We doubt very much. 
	No water or desinfectans available at the toilet. A public toilet, which you will find everywhere in Finland, is much better.
	The kitchen, called by Satu a “beautiful jurt” was more worse equipped than a standard kitchen for backpackers. Fe: just one cooking pot available.
	One of  the 2 gasburners did not work. 
	No dry wood ready to use for the stove in the kitchen. Everything to make a fire we had to do it ourselves and in the dark.
	Because the oillamp in the kitchen did not work; in the cabins were just 2 very small candles. The batteries we got at 18.00, as some toiletpaper.
	Old rusted chairs in the kitchen……
	According to the owner, the cabins would have panorama windows. Notice, that the view is no panorama view. Only some trees and the mess and old things laying around.
	Etc. etc. 

The ratio what we had to pay compared (70 euro per cabin per night) to what we got is unacceptable to us, seen the above mentioned complaints and the not mentioned ones.

So, anyone who read this review: be warned. 
Do not go to Villa Lanca Eco resort, if you have expectations to find a “super nice eco resort”.
