My wife, infant, and I were looking for a nice spot to visit on a recent trip to Denmark. Hotel Frederiksminde provided an ideal rural setting with nice accommodations and a fantastic restaurant.

The rooms are well furnished with great views. But, the building is over 100 years old, so don't expect it to be modern or extremely well sound-proofed. The Michelin star restaurant is definitely the highlight, don't skip the full tasting menu.

Great location, amazing restaurant

We had the good fortune to visit this hotel for just one night. The rooms are fine, clean and decorated in typical danish rural stile. No luxury but you will find good but rather small beds.
The location is beautiful and very calm. Perfect for relaxing.
The magic is in the restaurant. We had a 6 course dinner of amazing quality with 4 dishes focused on vegetables and seafood. All 6 courses was Michelin standard and beautifully presented by a very competent staff. 
Of course a place like this is focused on ecological and biodynamic products and this also shows in the wine menu. If you do not appreciate the new trend with natural or Orange wines ask the weary competent sommelier to help you find more classic wines. The selection is great and not to expensive 

Avarage Roms but exceptional restaurant and location 

Frederiksminde is a “memorable” hotel. It was renovated a few years ago but everything inside is kept in the original style so when you step inside you at the same time take a bit step back in time. The hotel functions at a very high level so this is in no way a local inn but more of a quaint hidden gem that at the same time houses a gastronomic restaurant with one Michelin star serving some of the more sophisticated and tasty Nordic Cusine that we have had. The wine menu is however terrible and the wine service not very good either.

A hidden gem

.  Rooms a bit old but very nice patios with them.  Town and surroundings particularly lovely and flowered.  Extensive breakfast with excellent home-made bread and pastries in beautiful room overlooking the sea.

Delightful country estate

The location is nice , hotel is old style with old style furniture, you feel the smell of “grandmother place” . Personal is wonderful and breakfast is awesome. If you enjoy the old style places this is one . I enjoy my staying there . 

Old style location full of charm

Food & service were outstanding.
Rooms charming & smallish but charming views of an old village.
A suggestion would be to have a formal lounge & a fireplace where guests could congregate & chat or read & have a drink. It needs a focus other than the restaurant. Beautiful old artifacts adorn the walls & corridors.

Excellent

we went mainly for the food which was just as well because the bed was the smallest and hardest we slept in on our 4 night trip ( and the mist expensive ) with very hard pillows ,useless tv ( no english ) and small rooms ( even tho we had a junior sweet.However the staff wrer very nice and the food was excellent.Unfortunate l y nowhere else to stay in the area so you,re a captive audience.

Not soundproof rooms, you clearly hear the neighbors snoring.
The breakfast is “eat or leave”. No choice of juice or food. No any fresh vegetarian fruit. I am vegetarian, not satisfied to be offered pork for breakfast.
