My experience at Iguana surf shop was exceptional. I stayed in the shared rooms which were very spacious, clean and had enough shower and locker space for everyone. All the staff were friendly and the cleaning staff were constantly tending to the areas.

The surf camp itself was phenomenal, my surf instructor manrique went above and beyond for me and the other participants each day, ensuring that our lessons were at the most opportune time every day, and catering the lessons to meet our individual needs and abilities. 

I had so much fun at iguana surf camp and would definitely go back!


Spacious rooms with comfy beds and EXCELLENT staff! If I had a question, they responded promptly and were happy to help! Right across from the beach and within walking distance to so many restaurants, bars, shops etc.  They made me feel very welcomed and helped me book all of the amazing tours I went on! The surf instructor, Jonathan, was awesome and made the experience so enjoyable! He made me laugh non stop. You can’t beat the one on one lessons especially at an affordable price. I would definitely return! All the staff were great!!

We had such a fun day with Iguana Surf School!  We did a two hour private session for our family of five.  We had three instructors with us and were surfing well and having a blast at the end. We had a fabulous experience and would highly recommend.

I spent a week at Iguanas doing a surf camp and enjoying the vibes of Tamarindo. I had done a handful of surf lessons in the past but this topped them all. My surf instructor Manrique was amazing! He was helpful, supportive, encouraging and very focused on helping me progress and learn. I would highly recommend requesting Manrique for your surf lesson!

The overall surf package was a wonderful experience. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, conveniently located and a joy to stay in. If you are considering a surf trip in Tamarindo, please check out Iguanas - you won't be disappointed!

I was SO hesitant to try surfing, but I  got talked into it with my sister. We had the best instructor, Manfred. We are two women in our 60's...and we both got up!! He cared about our safety as much as he cared about our success. Highly recommend!!

I stayed a week at Iguanas on a surfing package, and it was the best experience! Everyone was super friendly and had excellent vibes. I especially want to highlight my surf instructor Manrique, who was a top rated professional and all around great guy. He did his best to improve all aspects of my surfing skills, from reading waves to the more technical parts. He was very encouraging and cared a lot about my progression. I have already recommended Iguana’s to all my friends and would like to recommend it to anyone considering surfing in tamarindo.

We were in town to look at wedding venues/ villas for a later date. This perfect little condo was situated just a mile from many of the villas we were looking at and literally a jump across to the beach and at the edge of the great little town of with so many food and shopping options a stones throw from your door yet still very quiet and tucked away once you enter the courtyard. Highly recommend for couples looking to get a taste of everything possible to do in Tamarindo.

- Great ROOM: comfortable mattress, AC
- Great EQUIPPPED: TV, Satellite, Fully Stocked Kitchen
- Great Facility: outside Cabana, Small Pool, Laundry, security gate 
- Great STAFF: nice and will do their best to help you out

My wife and I had a fantastic time at Iguana Surf Camp in Tamarindo in January and we would recommend it to anyone! Our surf instructor, Sabinka, had us catching waves the first day and catching waves on our own with hard-top boards by the end of our 3-day stay. Sabinka was a great coach, helping us to really get the most out of our days at the beach. We can't wait to get out on boards back home this summer once the water warms up. We were picked up at the airport promptly by Melvin and welcomed by the super friendly host Mike at the beautiful and spotless hotel/hostel. All of the staff at Iguana Surf were super friendly and helpful and our experience was truly top notch!

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

Iguana Surf Camp

We have stayed at Iguana Surf Condos about 7 or 8 times.  The owners, Chad, Lyndsey, Beth and Tracy as well as the staff Lao and Gloria all treat us like family.  They stop and chat with us, help us get set up for activities and make sure we have everything we need.  The condos are modern, clean and spacious.  The  shared area is a great place to hang out and make new friends.  The property has a pool but is just a block away from the beach (beach chairs and towels are provided).  Many amazing restaurants are within walking distance.  Lyndsey can take care of all your tour needs.  It is a great little property that provides a lot of privacy while being right in the middle of everything.  The group has just purchased a completely remodeled a property next door that can be rented by families.  It has a private pool and shared kitchen and dining.  Think it sleeps 14-16 people.  Can't say enough good things about Iguana Surf and looking forward to many more stays ahead.

Another amazing visit

I recently stayed at the Iguana Surf Hostel in Tamarindo, Costa Rica and was not disappointed. I checked in around 8 pm after a long night and was met by Tomas who teaches surf lessons at the surf camp. I had never stayed in a hostel before and was made feel very welcome. The room was great & clean, there were lockers to store my valuables and it is located right across from the beach. Could not have asked for a better experience.
