One of the favorite places to stay during a 400-day trip throughout Asia, House of Bethany (note: also spelled Bodami etc.) was a very relaxing experience. It felt like I was invited to a family home. The owners are empasizedly christians - whether this is related to their friendly approach to guests or not, I cannot judge. The young lady doesnt speek English very well, but goes out of her way to communicate via typing in google translate, which is a fun experience. The grandparents neither speak nor type, but keep smiling. The rooms are big, tastefully furnished, with TV and wifi. I found the room and the bathroom both to be exceptionally clean. You can rent a bycicle for very cheap from the grandfather, which is the best thing to do around Dali, exploring the villages of Lake Erhai. The guesthouse is at the edge of the "old town" of Dali, within walking distance to everything. It was also very cheap in May. Highly recommended.
