Global ViIlage Backpackers Youth Hostel

LET ME START by saying that everyone who works there is amazing. Really helpful, fun to talk to and just generally excellent. The bar has the cheapest drinks you'll find downtown by a long way with drink deals on every day of the week. Free internet access and breakfast (THOUGH DON'T DRINK THE JUICE!). They have a good fix on fun places to go (especially to eat!) and they didn't mind that my friend had thrown up on her bedding. They sell a lot of very handy supplies really cheaply at the desk but don't allow outside food or drink in (boo!). However it's far from the cleanest place I've ever stayed, and it was either very cold or hot depending on which room/corridor you were in. Not sure what all these bad reviews about rats and cockroaches all over the place, we stayed for over a week in two separate rooms and we never saw a single pest! Put "Terrible" for swimming pool and fitness centre as they don't have one and I can't figure out how to unrate it.
