The bad: Internet is dial up speed, and just plain stops working for 5 or 10 minutes at a time frequently. Deal breaker for me, as I work remote and the Internet was too slow for zoom calls even when it was working. Showers are pretty brutal, they have hot water but the temperature fluctuates massively, you'll dial it in where you want and then it will go ice cold 20 seconds later, then scalding hot 20 seconds after that.

The good: staff is very friendly, dorm rooms are nice with curtains

The hostel is clean and the beds are comfortable and it seems to be new/recently refurbished. The bunks are three high and the rooms have high ceilings so the top bunk is quite a climb. 

Reception staff are very friendly. The main issues is the lack of communal space and social areas.

Clean and new hostel

I had a good experience! 
The hostel is relatively new but definitely has potential to be great; the boss and staff were nice, very helpful and available, the beds comfortable (new mattresses - so nothing squeaks and no clumpy pillows), the shower/ bathroom spacious. I was there after carnival and there weren't many guests, so I don't know what the shower situation would be like with full occupancy...

The location is great. 2 mins to the beach, various bus routs, and a supermarket. Walkable distance to the shopping and restaurant area. Night-life is a bit farther away. 

Breakfast was simple and has room for improvement. And there's no "common room" to hang out in, just the patio outside which is somewhat loud due to street noise, and a rooftop patio which was closed most of the time but is probably cool when more guests are there.

Overall a good experience! What I found great is that the owner showed interest in making it a successful hostel; asked me for my thoughts and ideas. Cool guy, very open ;)

Nice location, comfy beds, close to the beach

This hostel is in a nice area, thats about all there is to it!

I checked in and checked out immediatly, the dorms are three beds high. The floor is raw concrete, even the bathroom floors. No chill out area and staff unwilling to refund even the deposit depsite not staying a single night there out of 4 that were paid for.

Left this hostel

The dorms are TINY and after spending 2 nights with 8 other girls in 3 level bunk beds it started killing me - especially since there is no nice chill out area to escape to. AC at night was way too cold - with the heat during the day you can get a cold easily. The staff was friendly and the breakfast quite alright but at 9 o'clock several items were not available already (breakfast is from 8 until 10). I had to pay 4 days in advance and left after 2 days to a much nicer hostel for a lower price. The money i did not get back - I did not even care so much because I was soo glad to be out and could finally recharge...

Had to leave this place

That was really a great experience. Located at Leblon, the safest area in Rio, close to the best bars and restaurants of the city, I was only one block away from Leblon's gorgeous beach.
The hostel is pretty new and provides great acommodation: strong freezing AC (it's required for surviving in Rio!) and comfortable bed. I was well impressed how clean the hostel is kept, specially the toilets.
Commom areas are great for meeting new friends, and beer is always perfectly cooled for refreshing.
I had very pleasnt attemption from the staff at all the moments I needed.
Strongly recommended!
