Arawak Jungle Hostel

I stayed at Arawak about 2 years ago for a weekend and I still remember those days as one of the best mini holidays I have had by myself. The location is absolutely stunning, you can explore the forest and enjoy the beautiful beach nearby, where you can also find several bars and restaurants. There's an indigenous village on the other side of the river, which is very pretty and they allow turists to visit and buy local art and jewelry.
The building is beautiful, stylish and peaceful rooms are comfortable and the food absolutely delicious and healthy. This place has an incredible energy, I really couldn't recommend it more. 
I got there by public transport (bus) from Manaus, it was very easy to find and I felt safe all the time.

If you expect here a 5 or 7 star Hotel like in Dubai with gold, you are certainly wrong. If you want the city turbulence, you are here also wrong. 

If you expect Air Condition, free Wifi, the best Tambaqui grilled on fire, musicians from all over South America playing in the evening for the Hostel guests and later stay with them at the campfire, and the next day you decide to stay at the pool, having animal visitors from the directly rain forest beside, stay at the Acutuba beach, that looks like Caribbean sea or Thailand beach, or to play with pink dolphins, and seeing collected traditional art in every corner of the Hostel, also made by Volunteers worldwide, that stay most of them more than one or two month, you are here right. And, there are normally no employees, most of them volunteers from all over the world that bring in there experience, stories and culture.
From the first moment you see: this Hostel is not for business reasons, it's for people searching a family feeling on the other side of the planet. And this is exactly what you can expect from Wagner and Nádia, and for me the reason, that every year since 2010 come back here. I already feel like a real family member, even when I am from Austria :)

This is the perfect place if you want to feel like you're in the Amazon Jungle, be near the beach (river) and still want the comforts of home.  

I went with 2 friends for a girls' getaway.  We weren't sure of what to expect, but I can honestly say that Arawak exceeded any expectations.  The staff is made up of fun travelers who have seen much of the world.  The owners, Wagner & Nadia welcome you and treat you like family.  The property is beautiful and so peaceful.  I was happy just sitting by the pool or in a hammock in the main building.  There is also a trail you can walk to a natural "pool" in the jungle, which is still part of the property.  What a great experience!

Nothing disappointed us - the food, the rooms, the surroundings.  Everything was top-notch!  I'm already planning my return trip!

After a month and a half in Brazil our best stay was our last at Arawak. The place had an amazing vibe from the minute we got there we felt so at home as if we were visiting friends. Great rooms, simple but clean and spacious all with great views. The food also amazing with great beaches very close our favorite was Japanese Beach. If you are in Manaus for any reason find time to stay at Arawak only 45 minutes out of the city. Guaranteed an incredible stay at very reasonable rate. My wife and I will be back next year and staying at Arawak.

The Arawak Jungle Hostel is a wonderful place to visit in the Amazon for a family vacation to the heart of the Amazon. The hostel is very peaceful with the surrounding trees alive with exotic tropical birds early in the morning. Monkeys can also be seen and it is possible to walk a short distance to the nearby majestic Negro River, where boat charters can be hired to visit a remote Arawak native villages and see their traditional medicines and crafts first hand. The hostel arranged a full river excursion for us that included a very personal experience in which our family got to swim with pink dolphins, certainly one of the major highlights of our visit, beside World Cup soccer matches in the beautiful stadium in Manaus.

The staff at the hostel are extremely professional and the food is excellent. We recommend the locally caught fresh fish filets paired with a nice Sauvignon Blanc from Chile. Meals are prepared by a professional chef, and they even make their on home-made pastas. The rooms are large and private, with individual AC in each room. The water is crystal clear, cold and refreshing, and there is a wonderful pool for children and plenty of space for them to run freely and play all day, or just relax. 

The Arawak Jungle Hostel is an ideal destination for families, especially those who wish to have a very positive first hand experience and adventure that allows everyone to experience life in a pristine Amazonian rain forest. The hostel is easy to access by car from the Manaus airport and the drive across the new 3.6 kilometer, 6 lane bridge that spans the Negro River is very impressive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hosts were very accommodating. We recommend this to anyone thinking about travelling to Manaus as their gateway to an unforgettable rainforest experience. When the Negro River is low the beaches along the river are pure white sand and as expansive as any major beach in the Caribbean. Truly a unique adventure.
