217 reviewsMy husband and I recently spent a delightful week at the Baia do Joao Eco Pousada. It is a lovely, small hotel with caring and impeccable service. Every member of the staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful and gracious. They each went out of their way to be of any assistance that we could request. The daily breakfast was consistently fresh and delicious - including homemade breads & cakes, real juices and a variety of fresh fruits along with cheeses, meats and whatever eggs you wanted. The hotel is conveniently located towards the end of the Buzios peninsula - far enough away from the bustle of the centro area where the majority of the shopping and restaurants are located but easy to get to in 10 minutes with a $3 Uber ride. It is within walking distance to the beautiful João Fernandes beach and has a wonderful and very clean pool which was always a fantastic temperature (not too cold or too warm) that came in handy given the formidable heat during our time in Buzios. The room and bed were quite comfortable and the cleaning staff was available daily. The view of the sea from our room and balcony was “to die for.” Of course having a spectacular view means you are up on a hill but if climbing up or down the hill is an issue (as it was for me) the Ubers were generally easy to obtain and inexpensive. I enthusiastically recommend this pousada to anyone seeking a peaceful, well-located, well-run small hotel near the Buzios beaches.
