Nothing fancy here.  Clean rooms.  Secure paring.  Surprisingly good Chinese restaurant.  We got across border after leaving Cancun at noon but it was getting dark.  Auto insurance agent recommended this hotel.

The staff were amazing, very helpful and always saying hello etc, the staff were constantly cleaning, the property was a little dated, but it was obvious that many upgrades and repairs were being done on the property. The mattress needs to be replaced (thats very important for a hotel obviously). We had a fridge and that made a world of difference since we stayed there about two weeks. The staff and their great attitudes were the stars of the show.

The good - the rooftop deck has a spectacular unobstructed view of the bay, if you are able to climb 5 flights of steep steps to get there.  The bad, we were put in a room with an air conditioner that was obviously broken (cooling but a constant sound like a lawn mower) and it was clear from the conversation among the staff members that this was intentional, not accidental.  Maybe they thought we wouldn't complain.  At any rate the only room available with AC that did not sound like a lawnmower cost more and they insisted that we pay for the upgrade.  The irony is that they have a different rate for rooms without AC - they could have charged that lower rate for the lawnmower room and it would have made sense.  The condition of the beds and rooms, and the property in general, was pretty down in the heel as well.  Reasonably clean, just way past their prime.  For the price, that might be expected.

I'm sure that, in it's day, the Mirador Hotel was quite the place. An impressive building (for Corozal, anyway)  in a great location by the bay and in the centre of town.   Looks pretty tired now, but solid as a rock.  Friendly staff, very clean accommodations and inexpensive.  Bed was uncomfortable, but the shower worked.  I had the best room in house.... top floor with a fabulous ocean view.  Not the worst place to stay...

Some imagination required

No fancy, room super clean!  Lovely view. I did like was the open and close door, got me tired. If I wanted to come they to open the door for me and close it back. I guess to be safe! But everything was great. 

Was excellent

I paid $35/night for a room without A/C. Rooms with A/C cost $50, and that is overpriced, but you need the A/C in Corozal. Room rather cramped. Not good water pressure in shower. Sink water pressure was laughably bad. Excellent rooftop terrace affording spectacular views of the town. Close to decent restaurants such as Al's Cafe. Adjoining Chinese restaurant is no good. Nice, friendly staff, including two Belizean twin sisters who are beautiful. Not far from the bus station. Close to a Scotia Bank. Close to stores that sell drinks. A taxi to Cerros costs $40 for the trip out, back, and waiting time. The masks at Cerros are fiberglass replicas. Close to the dock for the Thunderbolt water taxi. A nice place that is Western-owned that is a ways from the center of town is the Copper Horse Inn...Canadian lady owns it and was very nice to me when I had a question. She was also grilling some delicious chicken. You'd probably be more comfortable there...

It's OK, but there are issues...

Picked for locality to family, although clean, the property was shabby, noisy early in the morning, the shower and toilet are raised and would be difficult for some. The decor left a lot to be desired but you get what you pay for. The property was chosen due to its proximity to family, and although it was clean, it appeared shabby and experienced noise disturbances early in the morning. The raised shower and toilet may pose difficulties for some individuals. Furthermore, the decor was lacking in quality, but this is to be expected when paying a lower price.The property was chosen due to its proximity to family, and although it was clean, it appeared shabby and experienced noise disturbances early in the morning. Staying close to the waterfront, a charming breakfast spot, and a coffee shop made the short visit more tolerable.

Not the best place to stay, front desk staff (evening) not interested in actually doing there job, place needs some serious maintenance
