Krekeltje

My sister and her family live in Oostduinkerke along the road to Krekeltje so this was a perfect location for us to stay to celebrate a family reunion. We chose the 3 bedroom ground floor villa apartment whilst my younger sister and husband took the upstairs apartment so we were technically all under one roof though there seems to be a 3rd property within the divided building . We were able to park directly outside on the forecourt although the guest instructions seemed to indicate we should park around the corner for unknown reasons. The property and grounds are tastefully decorated and well maintained in general although we found the stored electrical items in our kitchen in need of a good clean. There is also the use of bicycles and a washing machine in the large garage which were of great use to us. We had difficulties operating the halogen cooker and tv as there were no instruction booklets provided and I emailed the property owner who replied 24 hours later with advice however my Flemish brother-in-law had already sorted out the tv channels by then. At the time of booking it is stipulated in the t&c’s that towels and bed sheets are only provided as a chargeable extra of €10 per person and we found this unusual to say the least as we’d never encountered this before and who on earth wants to transport these if you’re travelling from overseas but fortunately my sister nearby provided this for us but it’s something guests should clearly understand as it poses an inconvenience when packing to travel. However, this aside, Krekeltje has a lot to offer in a lovely street in a lovely town which has lots nearby and not too far away eg Bruges and Ypres which we thoroughly enjoyed visiting. I would certainly choose to book a future stay at Krekeltje although they only offer complete weeks and 3 day weekend stays which didn’t fit our our 9 day visit in full.
