A gem!  We stayed here in March with 4 other couples for 3 nights and did some tandem bike riding in the desert.
The inn is a lovingly restored motor lodge that is an intimate place - think of the opposite of a hilton garden or marriot courtyard.  The inn is spotless and quiet.  Centrally located just a a few blocks from all the restaurants and great coffee (Vacarro roasters) in Palm Desert.   The breakfast is very good and includes a hot dish, pastries and tons of fruit and best of all, Ms. Kim is awesome host.

A gem in the desert

If you want a look-alike hotel, with electronic key cards and bland breakfast offerings, this is NOT the place for you. 

But if you want walkable, good prices, VERY independent and eclectic (and secure) settings - and fabulous breakfast each day this IS very much your kind of place.

This place is quiet,close to everything and holds attentive care to every aspect of a stay.

It ain't like the other places

Great little place, just one street away from the centre.

Bars, restaurants and shops right on the doorstep.
(Keddys is the go-to for breakfast)

Free parking for guests.

Super nice well fitted rooms, stayed in 17, superb.

Pool is great, like a little oasis.

Comfy loungers and quality patio furniture.

Quiet early in the week, too.

Owners were very friendly and helpful.

Had a couple of days, nowhere near enough - really enjoyed our stay, thanks Kim!

Kim has a genuine loving heart 4 her guests…constantly making sure their needs are met … I have stayed here the past couple years over & over again when I was home searching in the area…
 I look 4 quality & this is a hideaway 4 ppl who know they’ve found it & want 2 keep it a secret…🤫

A Hidden Fantasy Island… 

By far one of the best places I have stayed in this area. Beautiful accommodations, great location and comfortable, safe surroundings. Customer service is impeccable. Mom/Pop owned and you can feel the passion and love put into this inn. This will be my go to every chance I get.

Relaxing Business trip

Casa Larrea is the perfect spot if you want to be close to lots of amenities, shopping, and accessibility to outdoor activities but what makes it so special is the care from the owner Kim and her staff. As other reviewers have said, it is quirky; no two rooms are the same The inn was built in 1957 and unlike so many small inns in the Palm Springs area, Casa Larrea has not been remodelled so much that it no longer resembles the original. Instead, you have a beautifully maintained quaint inn with a lovely courtyard, pool and hot tub. Breakfasts are plentiful with lots of variety. We were a group of fourteen and the bar/bbq area was a perfect gathering spot in the evenings. A special treat was a bbq Kim and her husband prepared for us - delicious!

A Hidden Gem

This hotel is a great place to stay.
It is conveniently located just a block off El Paseo in Palm Desert and is within easy walking distance to stores and restaurants. There is ample parking in front of the hotel. The main gate to the hotel requires a code to enter so the hotel is safe and secure.
The hotel is a comfortable and cozy, not so big as to be crowded and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is a pool in the center courtyard and the pool is never busy so it is nice to go for a swim or sit poolside and relax.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and nicely furnished. The linens are of good quality.
The complimentary breakfast is outstanding with a wide variety of delicious items.
We have stayed at the Casa Larrea Inn several times and this is the only place that  we stay in the desert.
Don't miss this place!  You will not be disappointed.

Give yourself a treat and stay here

Why would I stay anywhere else?  Casa Larrea is quirky, friendly, and fun.

My room was very nice, and well-appointed with – get this – real furniture.  The bed is a real bed, not a “headboard” screwed to the wall.

I was visiting the desert on business, and I did not have a big corporate account I could send the bill to, so when I saw the room rate for Casa Larrea I booked it immediately.  But it’s not a business hotel (And thank God for that) – so there was no desk and no multi-plug thing in the room.  Was that a problem?  Not a bit.  Instead of working in my room, I did some work by the pool on a gorgeous morning, enjoying my complimentary coffee and my complimentary breakfast, while Sarah the Dove wandered around my bare feet.  If you are working for the CIA and need to work in private, the room has a nice private patio with a table and chairs.

Business traveler tip.  I carry a three-way plug wherever I go.  It came in handy.

Having sung the praises of Casa Larrea, I would say it’s not for everyone.  If you are offended by the fact that your in-room coffee-maker is a Mr. Coffee and the in-room coffee is Folgers, rather than a Keurig with a faux-mahogany felt-lined box of Café de FooFoo coffee pods, there are probably plenty of $400/night rooms nearby.

Speaking of nearby:  Casa Larrea is two blocks away – and an easy walk – to all of the FooFoo restaurants and shops on El Paseo.

By the way, the Folgers was just fine.  And I am a coffee snob.

Quirkyperfect !!

We stayed three nights here and had a wonderful experience. Great location right off El Paseo.  The room was very clean and the furnishings were interesting…like staying at your beloved Aunt’s home. Great amenities. Had a lovely suite. Never a fan of King beds, this one didn’t offer much to move that opinion. Loved the sitting area and the dressing room. The pool area was inviting and private. Allen was hosting the property and was courteous, informative and cooked a perfect hard boiled egg. My one suggestion is to offer fewer choices in terms of pastries at breakfast and go for higher quality.

Impeccably clean and a bit quirky

We just spent lovely 3 nights at Casa Larrea.  The price was so low that I was concerned that there would be issues with cleanliness or comfort, but this was not at all the case.  We stayed in a basic "room" (i.e., not a suite with a kitchen).  The king size bed had a firm mattress with good quality linens, and a ceiling fan over the bed.  The bath was equipped with a stall shower.  Bath linens were a bit skimpy but no different than what you would get at a budget-to-midprice chain hotel.  Both the WiFi signal and air-conditioning were strong.

But this description of the lodgings does not do justice to the funky, colorful decor that surrounds the pool and garden areas.  No corporate chain hotel is decorated like this.  We did not use the pool but it was immaculately clean; I never saw a leaf or any debris floating in it.

Kim could not be a more gracious or helpful innkeeper.  

The hotel had just resumed serving continental breakfast -- a self service buffet of fruit salad, whole fruits, toasts, pastries, cereal, coffee, and other beverages.  In fact, on Saturday's, they also offer a hot dish, which was an egg & chorizo casserole when we were there.

One more plus is the location -- just 1 block from El Paseo.  It was lovely just to walk over there to get dinner each evening.

We will certainly return to Casa Larrea if we are in the area.
