Could have gone 4 or 5* review - but we both felt 5* was only fair.  Stayed in Room 2 - good size, with a great balcony/terrace looking down over their dining terrace and out to the Cove itself.  Be away though - there are some public spaces at the same level who can see in through the French Doors - but there are very good blinds. 

We ate there several times over the weekend - one day all three meals due to terrible weather.   Breakfasts excellent, other meals also very tasty.  Several people said they repeatedly came back as the food was a lot better than in the couple of local alternatives.   Would say that there was a lack of consistency sometimes - one chef seems to particularly skilled.  One breakfast had hard poached eggs. But in the grand scheme - these are pretty trivial. 

Yes, you could say it needs a bit of a refresh, some old paint and creaky floorboards, it's not a cheap place - but it's good value.  It's the location and especially the staff that make it.  Good troop of youngsters making their way into the world of work, with some good senior people directing them.  Everyone extremely friendly and welcoming.  Despite some pretty rude customers (not guests) I saw.   Dog friendly.  Car park very close for £3 a day (instead of the £20 normally).   Yes - we will definitely come back.

Excellent stay

Absolutely love the Lulworth Lodge. I came back in May and it was our best meal by far so when I returned with my husband this July we ate there both nights - food was excellent again, cocktails superb, staff fantastic. Special mention to Clare and Murray for making each time extra special and making us feel well looked after. Feels like a home from home already!

The best place to eat in Lulworth

A two night stay. Something we do every year. Such friendly staff. Special mention for Kieran, the bar man who also doubles as very good handyman, Food great. Delicious . Well presented. Breakfast excellent. Beautiful sea view from restaurant. Convenient location, a short walk from Cove. A fantastic place to absorb the unique atmosphere of this place

Food, Service, Location Excellent, Cramped room only drawback

Room 2 (the one with the private balcony) for 2 nights with terrific weather so we really made use of the comfortable deck with its lovely view down to the cove & wonderful star-gazing at night. Room decoration stylish & modern with a nautical flavour. Huge comfortable bed & french windows onto the deck. Bathroom fine, shower one of those tiny corner ones which can be a bit awkward... Rest of the hotel terrific, both breakfasts & dinners delicious & a really delightful, young staff who were charming & helpful as well as efficient. Only one, tiny suggestion: don't let your staff turn on the outside speakers at 7.30am when they start setting up breakfast! Would definitely return.

Gorgeous cosy hotel with great food

Recently had a 3 night break here and can't fault the cleanliness of the rooms, quality of toiletries provided and the choice of delicious fresh cooked breakfasts. We slept well and it's wonderful to be so close to Lulworth Cove which you can have to yourselves first thing in the morning and last thing at night before and after the hordes ! As others have said rooms and bathrooms are not massive but they're nicely decorated and provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only a small issue but the walls between rooms are very thin so you can hear even quiet conversations and our room would benefit from a better fitting door as that would help to reduce noise and light from the landing. Only a small point but they do so much really well here, so it would be great to make it excellent on all fronts.

Great little hotel with high quality food

We experienced hospitality at its finest at Lulworth Lodge. What I loved about this smart hotel was the relaxed but attentive service. The food was delicious and varied plus it was very good value. Our room was comfortable and perfectly appointed. 

Hospitality at its finest!

We booked Lulworth Lodge for a special birthday party (my 75th). It is only a small hotel with 12 rooms ( I believe) and the building is listed.  There were 13 of us who ate there and 8 of us (+ a dog) who stayed overnight. The food was delicious and the staff fantastic. Our room was very comfortable and provided everything we needed + a couple of little birthday extras. The staff were helpful. The breakfast was amazing. We shall definitely stay there again!



A great little hotel!

We stayed at their other hotel (limestone) and stayed in the hideaway which was excellent, but came here for a meal on Saturday evening and for a Sunday roast, both meals were excellent and the atmosphere was great. We met the owners of the hotels who were staying there and they were lovely and approachable and spent time talking to us and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended

Birthday weekend

Stopped in for lunch after our trek to Durdle Dor, everything was lovely. Food, service and friendly staff. Will definitely return, would, be a lovely place to stay, close to the sea and am considering staying for my birthday

A lovely lunch

First of all the good points: Staff 10/10, Location 10/10, Food 9/10, Property/Condition 7/10.  

The negatives - unfortunately in our room, you can clearly hear the music coming from the restaurant/bar area. Although not loud in the bar, when all is nice a peaceful in your room, it is quite intrusive. It did stop finally at around 9.30pm, but did spoil a peaceful rest, where all you want to hear is the sound of the sea and wildlife, etc. 

There are some other minor points to make. As much as we loved the staff, food and lovely view, the above noise did spoilt it for us.
