Stayed for 2 nights for a weekend break. The place definitely needs some work doing (re-paint, new carpet, general tidy up), however for a bed for the night it was absolutely perfect. Great location, beautiful village..

I left an item of clothing in our room and when I spoke with Prince the manager, he was great and arranged for it to be sent to me. Prince was so helpful throughout our stay, nothing was too much, he helped with our queries and he made our stay that little bit more enjoyable. The owner of this business should inject a bit of cash into this place, and I hope they appreciate having a wonderful manager working there!

Fabulous manager! Needs a re-vamp but pleasant stay.

On the plus side the hotel was in a good, central location. Staff were helpful and polite, our room was spacious with a lovely view of the river (room 1). Breakfast was very good, but would have been improved by tablecloths or table mats on the tables instead of just the bare wood and some fruit, yoghurt and cereals to complete the breakfast. It was just a cooked breakfast with toast and marmalade. A very good cooked breakfast admittedly, the mushrooms in particular were the best I have ever had in a breakfast. But at £69 per night, we felt that the usual cereals etc should have been provided at breakfast. The room was unfortunately let down by a lot of dirt on the inside of the bathroom door which was quite off-putting. The shower was also a bit grubby and did not drain away properly and almost overflowed onto the bathroom floor. The furniture in the room was quite dated but the bed itself was very comfortable. With a bit more attention to detail, we felt that the hotel could be much improved but all in all we did have quite a pleasant stay.

Great staff, pluses and minuses with the accommodation

I am annoyed that this place advertises itself as "good value".  If you think over £80 for a single room with no breakfast is good value, you might agree with them, but I thought it was exorbitant considering the poor state of the building and the somewhat random arrangements.  We didn't get off to a good start when I arrived to find a notice on the locked front door telling me to telephone in order to be let in!  The room itself was all right, but the window was cracked and neither the bedroom nor the bathroom window would close properly and the first floor gives onto an open area at the top of the fire escape so you can't leave the curtains open. The bathroom must have been fitted by an amateur as so many things were wrong with it - chipped bath, ill-fitting taps, broken toilet roll holder, shower screen fitted back to front, etc.  Bed-making was cursory and the landing light was on a timer and couldn't be turned on from the end of the landing so I was often groping along in the pitch dark.  I only stayed here because it was the only place I could get for the three nights I wanted.  Now I know why it was so available!

A great disappointment

Had two rooms for one night. My room was dire, very small bathroom, couldn't really call it a bathroom more like a cupboard. My daughter's room has a larger bathroom. I was looking to stay somewhere near Pembury hospital for a couple of weeks but checked out of this place after only one night and stayed at Salamons in Southborough (brilliant and cheaper 4 * hotel). I did complain and received a small discount and was told it was the cheapest accommodation in Lamberhurst - currently charging discounted price of £75 - leaves me speechless frankly. Only good thing about this place was the breakfast and friendliness of what I presume was the manager. Mobile signal... My daughter found if she sat on the loo she could get a signal, otherwise no mobile signal.

Rooms tired, badly decorated, tatty, dusty ( managers comment, difficult to keep the dust down... Try cleaning the room properly, vacuum carpets and curtains, better still throw them out the window and buy new)... Beyond all hope unless they are prepared to spend some money on the place. Try visiting your competition and compare standards and you will see why you are getting bad reviews.

PROBABLY WORST B&B I HAVE STAYED IN

Firstly this place advertises itself as a B&B. I read descriptions on here of the lovely breakfast, but no breakfast was available. 
I read the description of the lime tree in and was looking forward to a pint and a meal in the inn. Er no. It's now a restaurant with rooms, called the riverside. And they don't open on Mondays. I arrived to find the door locked and had to call a number for someone to come and open up. That would have been easy if I had reception...
My room was tired and dated. Decoration and fittings looked like bad DIY, from the too big screws that stick out of the door handle, to the bad tiling and poor paintwork on the bathroom door, with runs and the old colour showing through. The window was falling apart with glass falling out. 
Possibly worst was the bed where I could feel every spring. 
Come on guys. Travelodge can get basic rooms right, with Pocket Sprung beds and charge as little as £25 a night, yet I was charged £75 for this!! 
Oh and to get out you have to go out of the fire escape and across the asphalted resturant roof, and down the fire escape. These fire escape access points are designed for emergency use, not general traffic, and would breach a fire risk assessment. (I teach health and safety). 
Won't ever stay again. 
Trip advisor should insist this is rebranded as a restaurant with rooms, as anything else is simply a lie.
