We enjoyed our latest stay with Bev and Neil as much as previous ones but this time we joined another couple on Neil's cooking class. What fun and we ended up eating the fruits of our labours, delicious!
Neil had worked hard to organise an afternoon when we learned new skills and picked up lots hints and tips. We left with super new apron and a cook book.
We would recommend this whatever your cooking experience and would have another go ourselves.
Super idea we wish you luck with it.

Cooking with Neil

Perfect location, being quiet, with good views from the bedroom I stayed in, Bev and Neil were there when needed, and took an interest in me and why I was there, I was not just someone who would be gone in a few days, so nice to see this in this day and age. Lovely breakfast with a good choice and offering a very good healthy option if that's what you like, Neils home made bread was excellent, and I make my own too, so I can see the effort put in. I would say I'm hard to please but Neil and Bev did it right, if your staying anywhere else when you could be here your making a big mistake. Steve from Bucks

Bev and Neil provided a lovely space, with a really warm welcome. The room was lovely, the on-suite very modern, and the guest communal living room was awesome, very homely with a great wood burner that provided instant heat.  Neil provides lovely fresh meals served up expertly by Bev. The place is so quiet and calm, and relaxing, but so (relatively) close to places to visit.  There is a real intimate feel to the place, it felt like we were visiting friends not staying at a guest house. I cannot recommend Sampson Barton strongly enough.  Thanks, Bev and Neil, we will be seeing you again.

Short Break

We were given a voucher for a country B&B short break by our daughter. This was the perfect place: very quiet in the middle of the Devon countryside, very spacious and very friendly. The food was excellent with plenty of choice. 

A perfect 24 hour getaway

Bev and Niel were on hand to welcome us on arrival they served us a complementary cream tea our room was very comfortable lovely fluffy towels in the bathroom and a very comfortable bed all warm and cosy

Excellent place to stay

We always enjoy or visits to Sampson Barton.  Set in lovely, peaceful countryside and always a warm welcome from Bev and Neil.  The rooms are immaculately clean and the food delicious and beautifully presented. We will be back again and hope to try one of Neil's cookery classes.

A special place to stay

The usual very warm welcome on our arrival with Neil's afternoon tea and scones. It was so good to see Bev and Neil again after too long an absence. As ever, our room was perfect, comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately we could only spend one night but the evening meal was a delight and up to the very best of Neil's standards. Can't think how this excellent guest house has been missed by Michelin all these years. A sad indictment of the Michelin inspectors. Bev and Neil's attention to detail is without fault and their warm personalities make their guests feel very much at home. Can't recommend Sampson Barton highly enough. Superb in all aspects. As good as ever

It was such a pleasure to see Bev and Neil again, their lovely cream tea welcome, lovely clean en-suite rooms, super evening menus from mainly local produce, and not forgetting the breakfasts that sets you up for the day.
It was just a shame the weather was not as good, still that was beyond their control.
We shall be return in 2020.
