This trip away had been arranged for a few weeks, and nothing has been too much trouble for James who we have been in regular contact with. Early check in allowed (key left in the door upon arrival). Can't praise enough.

When you enter 'The Stable' you think 'Okay, this is nice'. After dropping our bags off and shooting out again, we didn't have chance to properly assess the place. Everywhere looked cleaned upon initial viewing. Only thing I did notice was we had red bedding... always suspicious when bedding is any other colour than white. When we returned the first thing we did was pull back the covers and there (as mentioned in previous comments) was long hairs and stains, looks like ink, on the white bed sheet (duvet was red). There was also lots of dust around the bed and the bedside tables that if moved is clearly visible.

We had noisy neighbors, everything can be heard through the connecting locked door. The tv is far too small for room. 
The shower head was so high and full of lime scale that you couldn't get a good feel for the powerful shower. The towels were small (and we are average size) but we couldn't wrap them around us. Most of all the noise from the drainage pump was beyond belief and it also smelt of eggs occasionally. The sliding door leading into the bathroom was quite irritating, and not something, personally, we were too keen on.

On a positive note the location was great and the local pub looked nice and well used. This place could be made lovely, just a few tweaks needed and it could potentially be a gold mine.... but please start with the housekeeping!

Also instruction and 'welcome' booklet would be nice. 

Nice but a few negatives.

We have just had the most perfect weekend at The Stables in Fulbourn, where every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. We were a little concerned prior to our arrival having read one or two negative reviews on TripAdvisor, but when we arrived our fears were immediately replaced with smiles and excitement…the apartment was beautiful! Tastefully furnished with a real sense of space, the studio opened out onto a delightful patio area (see our photos) which had colourful hanging baskets and tall pots with lavender etc providing a perfect setting for breakfast and an early evening gin & tonic!
The village has all you need with a number of small shops, a small supermarket, three pubs/restaurants, all within a short walk. We also found some excellent walks through the nearby nature reserve and Fleam dyke. 

We didn’t actually meet James, the owner, but he was on hand when we called and recommended places to eat, both in the village and in Cambridge, as well as where the best walks were. All in all we had a magnificent weekend staying at The Stables, which simply exceeded all our expectations and we will most definitely be back!

A Hidden Gem!

Potentially a very nice little apartment but let down by poor maintenance and housekeeping. Crumbs and hairs on the floor and the shower shelf was very corroded and lime scaled. Most of the provided cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils were also dirty. Could also do with investing in some new bed linen as it is stained. There are very visible damp stains on the walls and ceiling, cobwebs and spiders throughout. The toilet macerator is also very annoying and noisy.

The owner/manager was away during our visit so when on the second night we had very noisy people next door there was nothing we could do. There is a door separating apartments which you can hear everything through even at normal noise levels, made worse having a shouting neighbour.

Put all this to the owner/manager who was very unsympathetic.

Wouldn't like to recommend based on my recent visit.

Disappointingly dirty

It all started so well as I found the accommodation fairly easily and it was in a nice quiet village with a pub just round the corner and plenty of amenities such as a Co-Op and a Tesco a few miles down the road for provisions.

The Stables is very nicely furnished and does have the wow factor when you first walk in.  Tea, coffee and sugar are provided, along with a couple of containers of cereals, but you will need to bring your own milk.  Sadly, the cooker hob was pretty dirty and looked as though it hadn't been properly cleaned, and what was further disappointing was discovering that the plates in the cupboard had been badly washed up and were not clean, so I had to wash them again before using them.

The bathroom was clean, although the shower head would benefit from being descaled and there were a few areas in and around the shower that looked a bit tired and again would have benefited from a good scrubbing.

For me, the really disappointing issue was on turning back the quilt cover to get into bed and discovering a few long hairs on the sheet underneath.  When I pulled the quilt back further I discovered stains on the underside of the quilt cover.  I couldn't bring myself to sleep with this side against me so I had to turn the quilt over so that the stains were on the upper side.  I know it is a serviced apartment rather than a hotel room, but even so I would have expected clean bed linen for each new guest.  To me, it really looked as though the bed had simply been remade after the previous occupant and the bedding had not been changed.

I did email the owner the next day to report these issues and to date have not even received the courtesy of a reply.  Very disappointing and unfortunately this means that I would not want to stay there again.  At £119 for one night I expected clean bed linen and better standards.

Nice accommodation spoilt by poor housekeeping

Converted stables but to a very high standard. Clean with Kitchen and air conditioning. Parking alongside and short journey to Park and Ride to Cambridge. Pub within walking distance as are local shops.
