After being let down by another hotel due to a booking.com error; we found ourselves by pure chance at the Claremont Guest House.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
From the moment we walked through the door to a wonderful warm but not intrusive welcome, our every need was catered for.
It was very well maintained, immaculately clean and the rooms had beautiful new furniture and decoration, with lovely comfortable beds and pillows and plenty of hot water.
There was ample parking for guests and at night the location was peaceful and quite away from the main roads so you could enjoy a good nights sleep.
Everyday we could make a different choice for breakfast and the food was extremely good from the full English breakfast to the cup of tea.
Every detail to make our stay perfect had been considered; even the little things had been thought about such as a mat for your hot hair straighteners.
The owners have been there for over thirty years and certainly know how to take care of their guests, we will certainly look to stay with them again in future.
Unfortunately we didn't take any photos in the room but the one on this website is accurate, it is that lovely.
I have no suggestions for improvement for this place :-)

Absolutely wonderful, we couldn't have asked for better

We have just come back from spending 4 lovely nights here.  Originally we were only supposed to stay for 3 but due to the strong winds that were forecast,  we were able to stay for an extra night which was much appreciated.  
We last stayed here in June 2019, and the place was still as lovely as ever.  Avril and Dennis are excellent hosts and go out of their way to ensure visitors have a enjoyable stay. 
We had room 1 which is on the ground floor,  very comfortable with an en suite shower.  Breakfast delicious,  you are left a menu in your room to choose what you would like the following morning which needs to be left in the hallway by 10pm the previous night. 
Plenty of parking both at the front of the house and outside, you can get to the town centre, seafront,  bus and railway stations as well as Shanklin Old Village, all between 10 and 20 minutes walk from the property.  
Looking forward to returning in the summer all being well

Had a great week at this guesthouse. Spotlessly clean, lovely rooms, great hosts. Breakfast was excellent. Toiletries in the bathroom was a nice touch. Towels changed regularly. Covid secure. A great base to explore the island. Would definitely stay there again.

Relaxing week

Myself and a couple of friends stayed here for 4 nights and had the best time. We were greeted by Dennis and Avril who are very welcoming and so friendly. We stayed in room 4 which was very clean and spacious! They had a lovely variety of food for breakfast and everything was delicious. Overall had an amazing stay, no complaints:)

My husband and I stayed here on recommendation for our first trip to the Isle Of Wight. What a gem! It was in a great location with a 5 minute walk to the beach on one side and a 5 minute walk to the shops/restaurants on the other. They are covid clean with sanitiser, visors and social distancing measures in place. It was tucked away in a quiet location which meant a peaceful nights sleep each night. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of choice. Our en-suite double room was made up every day. This family run B&B is a little gem with staff genuine and friendly. Free parking, WiFi, a key to come and go, plenty of choice of restaurants, pubs and shops on the esplanade. Recommended!

A little gem in Shanklin

Booked a last minute break for the weekend due to an early ferry we arrived 6 hours before check in and were allowed to check in early. Avril was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The room and the hotel was spotless and some nice personal touches like biscuits and toiletries in the room. Breakfast was great with a large variety on offer. We asked for an early breakfast on morning of departure as we had an early ferry booked which was no problem. The room was lovely with good hot shower. Location wise perfect for Shanklin close to beach, restaurants and pubs but nice and quiet  Ample off street parking thoroughly recommended

Myself and a couple of friends stayed at this Guest House over the weekend of the 'Beer and Buses' event.

The proprietors, Avril and Dennis were most welcoming. The place is spotless, attention to detail is very high, and the breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. There is also a nice lounge for residents to relax in. The place is located in a quiet area close to the cliff top, but just a short walk to the town centre. With onsite parking (there is a space for every room, none of this "first come, first served" nonsense) and very reasonable prices, the Claremont will be our first choice next time we travel to the Island. Highly recommended.

A Nice Place To Stay At

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, in a quiet road so good sleep had. Ample parking. Clean towels, hairdryer, tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits in room. Fantastic breakfast with good choice. Owners very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable..  great with children. Nothing is too much trouble... even performing easter bunny duties!!! Just minutes walk from sea front and local shop's/places to eat. A wonderful stay.
