In desperate need of refurbishment instead of diy fixes, basic important safety measures not evident, PAT testing on tv, kettle, iron. The iron wouldn’t have passed as the electrical flex had the wires showing and bulging out of the flex. Landing fire door held open by a cord. Noise from some sort of drainage gurgling all night when raining. However position of guest house ideal and although I didn’t have breakfast it smelt wonderful I wish I could have had it. ( current dietary requirements prevents me ) also 
Communal hallway entrance cluttered It’s a shame as this place is desperately  in need  of repairs and proper maintenance and a fresh approach. Please remove from your information pack that you charge for credit cards (which of course you don’t) this was made illegal in Jan 2018. 



Seahaven if you just want crash somewhere 

Erase previous reviews as of 2023 I say, excellent all round and good friendly staff, excellent location & value for money, 16+ TV channels, good size single room, low traffic noise, easy rule via key, pleased I made the right choice when parting with my money.

This man is a crook. He’s running this pathetic excuse for accommodation for no other reason than as a disguise for his petty criminal activities. 

We booked a room and made it clear how many guests were staying. When we arrived, the “manager” took no time in making us feel that we were inconveniencing him for being there at all despite having paid him £300 for a shabby room with creaking floorboards and ugly decor. He made up some story about his insurance being invalidated by putting in a kids bed for our little one, but we all know it was just a ruse for him to get us to pay more. He acted us though he had done us a massive service by allowing my family to stay in two separate rooms, but he said NOTHING about paying him extra for it. To no one’s surprise, he attempted to charge my card for an extra £300 on the last day without any explanation. Was he perhaps hoping I wouldn’t notice? 

We politely asked why we had been charged again and he and his wife immediately became confrontational. He failed to justify his shady dealings and instead opted to make personal comments about my relationship with my wife. When I made it clear that we would not be paying more (especially not a completely arbitrary figure like the one he attempted to charge us), he threatened to call the police. We left immediately and on the way out this coward attempted to start a fight with me in front of my family for leaving. 

Again, to no one’s surprise he attempted ( unsuccessfully) to charge my card for a series of random amounts, including £285, twice £200 and £500. Do these seem like the actions of an honest establishment? 

This person will no doubt justify his disgraceful, criminal behaviour by mentioning irrelevant personal details about me and my family like he has done so many other times with other reviews here. Save your sarcastic responses, pal. This isn’t Fawlty Towers: you’re just a crook, pure and simple. Stay away from this place, people. You’ve been warned!

BEST AVOID - Seahaven House or Beware of both Amy and the owner James who “remain confused” (confused and sarcastic email replies received to our complaints from both James and Amey separately )

BEST AVOID – hidden CCTV cameras secretly recording here 

Official complaint lodged - Case Reference: IC-203089-D4C1 for operating an unregistered CCTV system during our stay (proof available)

BEST – read all the other negative reviews about Seahaven House and avoid this place

BEST - take a video of your exact check - out time and get a time stamped receipt from elsewhere as proof of leaving before check-out time – unfortunately we didn’t and got extra £10 taken from our card because of their claimed CCTV footage which after 8 requests they still refuse to produce screen shots from “the time and date stamped footage” they claim to have

BEST - record every spoken word by management here – unfortunately we didn’t

BEST AVOID Seahaven House

What you need from a hotel simply wasn't there. The mattress was old and saggy, bedlinen threadbare, curtains light coloured - not light-blocking. Shower hard to mix - started well, then I had to jump out because it suddenly turned very hot. I rinsed off the soap from the washbasin rather than risk getting scalded. Decided to chance the shower again in the morning and it happened again. After that I just used the washbasin, which fortunately was of adequate size.  
No doubt the surfaces in immediate use had been cleaned and maybe even disinfected, but the pipe leading up from the WC pan to the cistern, in full view, was grimy and so were the skirting boards. Most unpleasant. I stayed only because everywhere else in Ryde was fullt booked. But I checked out a couple of other sea-front hotels for next time, and found them well-furbished and immaculately clean, at the same price. 
Iron avalable. Attractive dining-rrom for breakfast. Lounge was shut due to covid.

Lovely position on seafront, but poorly furnished, tired and grubby.

Stay with family, good location but not a comfortable stay, beds were poor, showers didn't work properly. and we got scammed by the owner 
 We booked via Booking . com and I got message from Amy saying I cancel my booking via the website and book direct with them they will offer me a discount on the ferry. at the time of checkout, I realised it was owner James pretending to be Amy and he overcharged for our stay. when questioned he became rude and started threatening us. The charge was £50 more than what I originally booked via booking . com
Scam alert: Firstly I would not recommend staying here, if you do, don't respond to the message and get lured into some ferry discount. in fact he will overcharge you for the stay.

Rude owner-stay clear of this place

Will never recommend this place. I booked a double room  then messaged to say its our anniversary they offered us an upgrade for £5 a night instead of £10. Which I accepted but when we got there was thinking what was we booked into? The garage? This place was terrible so dusty, leaky toilet, dodgy shower head holder this was loose. The shower head cameos 1st morning and bruised my leg. Itwas very noisy and noisy neighbours slamming doors.i was coughing all night due to the amount of dust and there was visible bugs.

Disgusting

I needed cheap accommodation for a non-holiday trip and this filled the bill.  The bedlinen, furnishings and carpets looked tired to the extent that if it was difficult to tell if they had been recently cleaned.  The bed was a bit too soft for my taste.  But the plumbing worked and it was quite adequate for a two night stay.  Owner welcoming but another staff member was prickly to the extent that I would recommend a dose of customer service training.

You get what you pay for

It seems that a lot of the reviewers on here were either drunk, never learned basic manners, or didn't understand what a guesthouse is. A guesthouse is basic, no-frills accommodation with the intention that it is just a room you go to to sleep, nothing else. This guesthouse is unique in that it is the first one I have been to that has a private bathroom, so there's that!

Overall I had a good stay, really great location and easy check-in, very cheap as well for the Isle of Wight particularly with COVID travel restrictions meaning far more people are holidaying within the country than usual. Didn't have the breakfast but it did smell nice. I did have an issue with the room being very hot, I don't know if it's because of the boiler in the bathroom or that I was in an annex above the kitchen but it wasn't the end of the world.

Good place to stay if you're on a walking holiday or something like that and just want somewhere to sleep. If you're looking for something more substantial or are staying for a week or two then the IOW is famous for its holiday parks and I have fond memories as a kid staying in them. Just don't expect them to be as reasonably priced as this hotel!

Good place to stay for a short break

Lovely little b&b! Our room was gorgeous, had such a beautiful view, everything was nice and clean and the owner was very nice upon checking in and giving us some info about Ryde! :)

The only negatives I have are the windows are very thin so you can hear the road very easily - I took ear plugs with me so it was no issue and it’s a old house so this is understandable!
