Booked a Thursday and Friday stay but was contacted to say no bar or restaurant on the Thursday so changed to Friday and Saturday. On arrival wow what a beautiful setting. Grounds spectacular. 
Not the warmest of welcomes but shown in person to room booked. Fantastic looking room, with great view. 
After 30 mins or so started feeling quite chilly to find no heating on, tried the water and not hot. Then noticed despite windows being shut there seemed to be lots of dead flies on the carpert and flies and ladybugs on the inside of the window. 
Not happy reported this, found that boiler not working so engineer was called in. Response to bugs was to hoover up! 
Bugs kept coming so after reporting again we were moved to another room. Much smaller than original room and View now of the car park! But no bugs.  but we were the only people there. Whilst staff were accommodating we did feel like an inconvenience. Food was very good. Very strange having dinner with nobody else there, nobody in bar either. 
Bed in New room smaller than 1st room and creaked every time you moved on it. Mattress very uncomfortable despite a topper. No sleep. Decided to have breakfast in the morning and leave shortening stay. Felt so deflated that this was not the stay it was supposed to be. 
Woman serving breakfast in morning was the nicest person we met the entire time. 
Breakfast was very good. 
Nobody seemed too concerned that we were leaving early. Just wish they had been honest that nobody else there and then I would booked elsewhere, no atmosphere with no other people.

A disappointing visit 

Kitley House Hotel afternoon tea is not to be missed if you are staying nearby. Staff went out of their way to accommodate our date and service was amazing. The hotel is in a spectacular setting, long drive leads you to the hotel itself. Every room had beautiful views. We were 7 in total so had two tables (under the rule of 6) in a private room overlooking the fountain and the gardens. Choices of tea, three tier plates laden with sandwiches, hot mini quiche, hot scones and patisserie cakes. Chef even added an extra plate of sandwiches and cakes. It totally exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much to the whole team! A great start to our half term break in Devon!

Fabulous Afternoon Tea

Stayed here with friends in August.
Comfortable beds and generous room sizes. Helpful staff and a glorious location. 
Food was magnificent - great roasts, delightful duck parfait, succulent pork belly and the best cream tea we’ve had in the West Country (several decades of experience!)
Very highly recommended.

Superb Location, Delicious Food

 I have stayed at this hotel previously but my last stay very disappointed less selection on continental breakfast the normally fresh orange for breakfast was just orange squash £14.95 price of my friend only wanted tea & toast was told the charge was the same as having breakfast  what a con the evening menu had less selection to choose from sfter telling my friend so much about the hotel food I'm a bit of a foodie it wasn't fine dining the starters boring i i would never normally have soup even deserts limited

Far to many cut backs on my last visit 5 star

Stayed here as I was working in Plymouth.  This hotel is wonderful.  We had excellent service, lovely food.  Friendly and helpful staff.  Will definitely return for a leisure break. Beautiful grounds.  A great location too as the hotels in Plymouth are rather ordinary.

My work continues to bring me to Plymouth very regularly and when here I rarely stay anywhere else as Kitley House really does tick all the boxes. Warm welcome, great dining and comfortable accommodation plus beautiful, peaceful setting. Perfect.

Still my Go-to Plymouth Hotel 

Kitley is a lovely estate, it nestles, genuinely, at the end of Yealmpton and within easy reach of Plymouth and the lovely beaches and coast paths of Mothecombe and Wombwell on the other side. The village of Holbeton is an easy five minutes or so and Kitley's comfortable sofas and chairs and its easy ambience makes you want to just sink in and relax. People are very friendly and welcoming, the rooms are just as comfortable (if a little on the cool side) but this is a lovely retreat from the hurly burly of the rest of the world. A long, tree-lined drive helps you with that sense of escape.

10.02.2020. Just had a great birthday treat in the way of a cream tea at the hotel. A very good cream tea with sandwiches, scones and bottomless tea. Great friendly service with a log fire 🔥 and background music served in one of the dining rooms. We will go again.

Cream Tea

Very characteristic setting. Almost too quiet albeit a winter evening for a birthday celebration. The menu was very small and we struggled do to select our choices.
 4 starters, 4 mains plus a burger and garlic chicken.desserts were 2 plus icecream or cheese. Really dissapointing for suchalovelyplace. The dining room was cold too. Only other people was a lady with 2children residents i think.
Service stared off ok but then they vanished  Asked for dry martini and was given a substute. Won't go back, Just Williams nearby far better value.

Lovely hotel setting

My friend and I wanted to try somewhere different for lunch .
She had never been to Kitley before and was absolutely blown away by the ambience and friendliness of the staff there.
The food was first class SO  tasty and beautifully presented.
We had the two courses for £15 including a soft drink.
We had elderflower bubbly.
The restaurant manageress Alison met us and was very welcoming and helpful.
She explained the contents of the menu and was able to guide me on choice re-fat-free dining.

We sat in the grand dining room with a log fire burning ,enjoying the beautiful view of the estuary below us.
The wildflowers were carpeted down the drive, there was snowdrops daffodils and primroses.
We even saw an Egret in the water as well as a heron.
We both enjoyed a very tasty dish of seabass on a bed of fresh samphire, with lovely Herbie new potatoes with a pesto dressing.
My friend had the cheesecake for desert and I have the mango sorbet.
