came in for a quick pint with a mate and the bartender was just rude and  unresponsive. I was wearing my mask so i don’t understand the cold glare i received. pint was nice though🥰 my friend asked if they had any ciders and the bare tender said no which is fair enough if they didn’t but as it’s a pub i do doubt they have 0 ciders.

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of Newcastle when we dropped into The Cumberland Arms Pub. 
It's a pub that offers accommodation but we were here only for a drink ,the pub itself is fab,it's a Victorian era pub, great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their beer garden, its a cosy well run pub.
We ordered pale ale's, served in excellent condition, we soaked up the sun in the beer garden while sipping our pale ale's. 
My pale ale was really good ,a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic British pale ale indeed. 
We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to The Cumberland Arms Pub we were totally impressed. 
The Cumberland Arms Pub is easy to locate on James Place Street, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area. 

Went the pub ,never stayed in hotel. 

I'm really the kind of person who stay away from predictable accommodations. The color scheme of this B&B really caught my attention. I also like the idea of music flows into my room.
As a foreigner, I'm not familiar with the situation of pedestrian in the UK, so it took a while for me to figure out where the metro station was. The supermarket was very easy to find though. Once I got my directions, it was easy to access everywhere.
The breakfast was delivered into my room every morning which was convenient, and the staff were always smiling and being very helpful.
I had a great stay and definitely will come back once if I revisit Newcastle.

An Alternative Choice

We stayed here for 3 nights (25,26,27 July) and loved it. There were 3 of us and we had a room each. None of us had a bad word just a couple of minor moans. It was about a 15 minute walk into the Quayside but a few minutes away down the steps were a couple of nice pubs and a restaurant. Saturday we went to the Bigg market area and it was £3.70 in a taxi. There was ample parking.
When we first got there and walked into the bar area we were a little tentative as the pub looked really old (turns out it was a great pub as well) and we thought the rooms would be the same, how wrong we were.
The rooms were huge with a mahoosive bed to match and it was comfortable. They were clean and the en-suite was spot on. There was tea and coffee (proper coffee as well) and if you wanted fressh milk you just had to ask, there were little cartons if you didn't.
The pub as I've said turned out to be a little gem, friendly staff and friendly people and live music on, you couldn't hear the noise from the pub, I was on the top floor so I don't know what it was like on the first floor but my father never mentioned anything, mind you he's 74 so he probably wouldn't have heard anything if he was sat in the bar. It was a real ale pub and my father likes John Smiths so they let him try a few to see if he liked one, he did thankfully. I was chuffed as they had Stowford Press cider which is a favourite of mine and the prices were ok as well.
Now onto the best bit, the breakfast. Full English for all of us and it was gorgeous. You pre-order it and it's brought to your room. Bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans,egg, mushrooms and toast with coffee. There was also cornflakes but I told the very pleasant young lady that brought the breakfast to leave them off, the full English was plenty for me, in fact plenty for all of us. It was very, very tasty and just what was needed. 
We were there on a golfing trip and I was struggling with wrist injuries so had some packs to put on my wrists that needed freezing, I asked the young lady and she sorted it that i could get them from the bar when we returned from golf, excellent.
The niggles, the tv wouldn't play properly (room 4, I think it was streamed) but it wasn't a massive problem as I only watched it whilst having breakfast, my fathers tv (room 1) wouldn't work at all and they offered to move him to another room. There wasn't hot water but this was soon sorted.
Overall it was a fantastic stay, and I'd definitely stay again, thanks to all at The Cumberland Arms.

Fantastic

Great place to stay. In walking distance of the river, the city centre, the metro & many hidden cafes & restaurants. Rooms above an old & well stocked pub of great charm. Rooms warm, comfortable & spotlessly clean. Car parking.

Brilliant!

Stayed here with my fiancée and we both loved it! Such a hidden gem not only were the rooms big and comfortable the staff were amazing and friendly. Breakfast went down a treat too!!
Next time we’re in Newcastle we will definitely be staying here again!!

Fabulous!!

This gem of a pub boasts massive comfortable rooms. it sits in a groovy part of Newcastle and it's an easy pleasant walk to town via the Quayside. The staff were really helpful. It hosts live folk music on a Saturday and we could hear it faintly under our bedroom towards the end of the eve, but we really liked that. A very interesting area of Newcastle, with industrial history and also local art abounding. The nearby Cook House provided great evening dining (book), and The Cluny provided a burger and chips the next eve. the Tyne was a good friendly pub, too.

A great weekend base

Great B and B with excellent breakfast, we had a huge room, friendly staff and an excellent real ale pub below. A bit out of the way but worth the effort. This is our second visit and it didn't disappoint.

Hidden Gem

I have already booked here for my stay during the Great North Run 2019 weekend next year. My wife decided to book here for our overnight stay in Newcastle. I’m so glad I’ve booked it for the GNR - a wonderful character of a pub with plenty of beers to choose from and an open fire makes it a really cosy atmosphere especially with the winter months coming.

The room we had (No. 3) was really spacious, large double bed, working shower and toilet and cosy and warm. Breakfast was brought to your room ( we both ordered the Cooked) and definitely sets you up for the day. The only regret I have in not buying one of the sausage rolls and spending more time down in the bar because of a action-packed day but from the amount of people that sit around, it’s definitely popular with the locals. 

See you again in September ‘19! 🏃🏻‍♂️
