Outstanding experience. The guests, atmosphere, and of course the food made for an incredible evening
We booked an overnight room and the chefs table… so glad we paid the extra. Extraordinary experience from start to finish. I was worried about the music but there was no need… it added to the uniqueness of the 5 hours. Gareth was extremely attentive as were his whole team, but were also really discreet using headsets and microphones to communicate in a really slick way. He was loving the evening as we all were. The food was quite something. - I really was quite overwhelmed by it the sublime tastes….such incredible ingredients. We were really spoiled…. And because of those ingredients this has now become the best restaurant we’ve eaten in. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place… which was also enhanced by some very special guests. Delicious breakfast & take home coffee. Totally awesome. Thankyou

A very different restaurant experience.  The menu concentrates on flavours over presentation; not that the presentation is bad, just less emphasis than other restaurants at the same level.  Every dish had unique flavours, and used really high quality interesting ingredients. One of the best restaurants I have eaten in, possibly the best. A whole evening’s experience from 5:15 to 10:30 ish.

I enjoyed every course.  Some stood out more than others, but all had their merits.  Highly recommended if you are not a fussy eater.

Music was fine, volume not overly loud, and I enjoyed breakfast the next day in the room.   Personally I liked the relaxed vibe with regard to dress code etc. 

I would be back if I could afford it!  If you like your food, make sure you save up and pay a visit.

Ynyshir is, without a doubt, the best restaurant I have ever visited. From the moment I sat down, I knew I was in for something special, but nothing could have prepared me for the extraordinary experience that unfolded. Each of the 30+ courses was a revelation, with the fish courses standing out as the most unforgettable. Every bite was a new discovery, with flavors so unique and extraordinary that they defied description. 

As the meal progressed, each course built upon the last, surprising and delighting me in ways I never thought possible. The attention to detail, the creativity, and the flawless execution were unmatched. Every dish felt like a masterpiece, crafted with a level of care and passion that is rare to find. 

Ynyshir is not just the best restaurant in the UK – it might very well be the best in the world. It is a place where food transcends the ordinary and becomes an experience that lingers long after the meal is over. Truly special.

What an extraordinary visit. Staying overnight is definitely worth it. Everything was exceptional, and the team went above and beyond. The DJ was spot on, and we absolutely loved the music. This place is, without a doubt, the best restaurant (with rooms) in the UK for me.

Epic dining experience in the UK, possibly the best based on the unique environment,  setup and of course curated menu from the man in front of the fire. 

The price and menu may put people off but that is people unwilling to try different foods. Was sat in the main room this time and just as good as the larder pass area. Music definitely mellowed since last year with a more refined dj but still pumping enough.

There's no time to rest as the food comes out but stick with it. The breakfast room offering is also an upgrade from last year so hope to come next year for another go!

This is the most amazing place I have ever been.
The food - out of this world.  Every bite blew my mind. I cant even describe how amazing it was.
The staff - knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and not pretentious.
The semmelier was especially knowledgeable and had fascinating stories about the drinks and glassware and producers.
The chefs - incredible service and food whilst being totally calm and working together like a well oiled machine and not a cross or stressed chef in sight.
Every diner looked totally overjoyed at the whole experience, it was such an amazing place to spend the evening and so lovely to be surrounded by such happy amazed people.
You mostly all faced the direction of the kitchen which was brilliant and being shown the ingredients first and moving from bar to bar to restaurant felt really unique and exciting.
I loved the disco ball and smoke towards the end of the night - everyone applaused and cheered it was such a fun night.
Also loved having a drink outside under the stars sat on a sheepskin by a roaring fire.
The decor of the hotel is gorgeous  - it felt moody and dark and beautiful.
Every dish came in its own unique piece of ceramics, wood or stone like you were immersed in the welsh countryside -  some of the dishes were even glazed in a glaze made from the ash of the restaurants oven - this attention to detail is evident throughout the whole hotel it truly is incredible.  Everything you touch and see has been so thoughtfully considered and executed.    I loved how every piece of cutlery felt different and unique and hand made and mostly didnt look like cutlery!
The atmosphere was amazing, the music was fun but not too loud.  Anyone who doesnt come away from this restaurant feeling like its the best thing they have ever experienced is dead inside.  If i could give it more than 5 stars I would.
Final nice touch - making you a coffee in your own ynyshir keep cup as you check out and giviing you a copy of the menu.  Even the bill was beautiful.

This is the best dining experience in the UK. It can only be a matter of time before this gets the 3 stars it deserves (4 if that was possible).
30 (yes 30) different dishes. Each one was amazing but some of them are standout incredible. The wagyu ‘burger’, blue fin tuna, scallops in wagyu ‘gravy’ - oh my goodness. 
But it’s also about the service. Mi casa, su casa. Impeccable but friendly. Right from the start they show you the ingredients for some of the dishes and it’s just so welcoming. 
The music throughout the evening is perfect. Slow at the start and a tumultuous party vibe at the end. 
Bravo Gareth Ward and all your staff. 
You’ve smashed this! And anyone who say’s differently is quite frankly wrong. 
Yes this is a remote location - but you know that when you booked!

Every detail about our visit to Ynyshir was superb. The quality of the ingredients and dishes that we were served was matched by the warm reception, care and attention afforded to us by every single member of staff. 

We opted for the pass bench and we weren’t sure what to expect, would be in the way, would it be awkward or not? Happily it seemed it was neither; we were close to Gareth and his team but the bench is positioned with enough space for the team to get on with their work and for us to enjoy the whole experience to one side. 

I won’t do the food justice in here, suffice to say we were wowed with every single plate (all 30 of them!). 

What I would like to dwell on is though is the impeccable team work, talent and love put into the craft by Gareth and his team - the evening takes place over five or so hours and the team do not stop at all. It was like being in the middle of a Formula One pit crew but with zero drama - everyone knew what they were doing and Gareth cuts a very calm, Jedi like presence. Meanwhile, the DJ played a superb set of tunes throughout which added an atmosphere of celebration and groove which we really appreciated. 

We were utterly gobsmacked by the quality, welcome and attention to detail. Highly highly recommend - it’s not cheap but we could see the amount of work, effort and people involved to pull something like this off night after night. 

Spectacular.

Amazing all round, the food here is probably the best we’ve had at any Michelin starred restaurant, but the experience itself is what makes it so special and different - from the welcome into the dark, Scandinavian bar, to the beautifully appointed garden room we stayed in. 

The team are really exceptional and Gareth himself was warm, inviting while still managing to be a bit sarcastic and friendly! 

We sat at the pass bench, I really can’t recommend this highly enough. Chatting to the team as they prep and plate up the food, with the dj in the background. It’s so fun. You also get the odd extra bit… 

Each Michelin place is different, but Ynyshir is REALLY different. Absolute class. 

Highlights were the lobster nahm jim, barbecued lamb ribs,  the duck, and the little doughy fried buns. Some of this food is just rudely good. 

There are hundreds of reasons why this is currently the best restaurant in the U.K. and we ate about 50 of them in one night… 

We stayed the week before they were awarded the best restaurant title and their second star. I’d imagine it’s even longer to wait to book in now, but it’s totally worth it.

If you have a bucket list then add a visit to Ynyshir to it. This is not just a meal its is a gastronomic experience delivered by Gareth Ward and his team.  Its no wonder Gareth has been awarded two Michelin stars and just voted best restaurant in the UK 2022.  The whole experience is fantastic great staff lead by Gareth and Amelia  and service delivered in a totally non pretentious way. The flavours that Gareth produces with his food are unbelievable and none of my descriptions would do them justice. Food , wine  , music in a great setting , nothing better. Gareth is a true gastronomic genius and even better such a great person. 
Big thanks to Gareth, Amelia and al the team at Ynyshir for creating a memory for me and my family.
