The room felt small and could have benefited from some upgrades, particularly in the shower unit. The bed was comfortable, though, and the room was clean. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night in August and had been concerned about noise from the pub below, but we heard nothing from the bar. (Yes, there was a drunken duet in the street outside for quite a  while, but this can not be blamed on the Inn management.) The Inn is conveniently located on Somerled Square, The real draw for us was the staff - from the manager, who was very pleasant and even offered a helpful parking hack, to all of the servers and staff members we spoke with, we felt welcomed, and it was clear that everyone was genuinely interested in helping us where they could. A little bit of a mixed bag, but we can't say enough good things about the people there.

A good experience

Having written about the poor experience our family had at this miserable cardboard box, the manager "sharon williamson, General Manager at The Isles Inn" decided she would leave us with an even worse lasting impression of the hotel and breakfast by effectively calling us liars.  The truth is, your reply has shown how poor your approach to service is - denial and insults won't change that for the better.  Next time rather than 'run down the rode for milk' at breakfast, I'll run away before our stay.  Are you offering a refund?

The room was clean, generally comfortable and fine for the one night we stayed.  There were several minor issues that, had we been booked for more than one night weprobably would have asked to be addressed, but none that were serious.  The location was perfect for our needs, right on the main square and convenient to drop off and pick up by our tour bus.  Room was on first floor (which in Scotland means one flight up from ground floor.  A younger guy at the bar where we checked in (believe owner's daughter's boyfriend?) insisted on carrying bags up so the trek up the stairs was manageable.  There was some noise from the bar (I knew there would be - and had hoped for traditional  ceilidh , but it was a couple of guys playing guitars and singing American country and soft rock).  We were tired enough that sleeping was not a problem.  The Isles Inn is not a multi star hotel, but certainly a very good choice for a short stay in Portree.

Convenient, Clean and Reasonable - a Good Choice in Portree

The hotel is basic with small rooms (two parents and two children will need two rooms) and is run by teens with no adult oversight, poor kids.  Restaurant "ran out of food" and dinner there wasn't an option.  Breakfast seemingly "catch, as catch can" - they ran out of milk, for instance - and the servers were pleasant, but not present.  We'd go elsewhere, for sure, having stayed there once.

Was SUPPOSED to be staying here 2 nights with work....room looked like it had been furnished from a charity shop.

Bed was uncomfortable . The walls are paper thin so could here next door picking their nose.....went down stairs to ask if I could change room....think the bar girl had learning difficulties as she looked through me like her pet hamster had started talking when I spoke to her.....so told her to forget it and went out.

Came back and went to my room to do some paperwork....and this is where the legendary Isle of Skye warm welcome kicked in a letter appears under my door by magic as if delivered by the hands of the Glen Brittle fairies themselves...

Essentially it said if I wasn't happy with the room and if I was going down to "abuse" their staff them to leave and find alternative accomadation elsewhere..

Seems that your not allowed to have bona fida (it means genuine for people in Skye) complaints nor voice your dissatisfaction without invoking the wrath of the 2 tadgers that run the place!!

So know what, I did leave next morning....and found a lovely warm comfortable WELCOMING place to stay in Broadford, which was nice!

I stopped drinking in this pub years ago as it has the overall atmosphere of a tramps funeral.
The bar staff are truly appalling, some of the rudest surliest inept staff I have had the misfortune to come across in the hospitality industry.

ABSOLUTE DUMP...HOSTILE MANAGERS.....PLACE SMELLS LIKE A TRASH CAN

Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The food was delicious from the starter to the pudding. Out of all our meals in Skye this was the best. We keep raving about the sticky toffee pudding it was so good.

Excellent meal

Would highly recommend. Food was excellent with very generous potions. Will definitely use this place when visiting here.

Wife had the haggis, I had the burger and kids had the Mac and Cheese. Not a single complaint

Fantastic Food and Service

Very busy when we went for dinner but the reasons were evident. Food was excellent, hot and timely considering how busy it was. A nice pint of ale and the Haggis Stack was perfect and my wife had the scallops which again was excellent. Service was great and friendly and our dog was welcomed.

Welcomed to Skye

We had intended to stay at the Stein Inn but they cancelled on us with 4 days notice so we had to find somewhere else dog friendly and the Isles Inn was available. It is in the middle of Portree - parking is in the public carpark opposite - fine after 5pm and before 8am but max 2 hours otherwise. There are limited places to eat in Portree so The Isles Inn is VERY busy all the time. It has an extremely lively bar (almost impossible to get a seat). Sharon (owner) was very nice and helpful. Our room was comfortable enough but above the bar so noisy when they have live music (tuesdays and thursdays). The hotel haven't restarted room service yet the bar downstairs is heaving all the time - seems a bit incongruous. Having said that, residents CAN book a table for dinner (which was absolutely honoured) - non residents have to turn up and hope. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it and the service was really good. The hotel is dog friendly. Rooms are basic but fine, the Wifi works most of the time (in fairness the problem was wider than the hotel).

Busy, friendly hotel and restaurant in the middle of Portree

Travelling as a family of 5 adults. We booked at short notice after our ferry sailing was cancelled and we needed two rooms somewhere for one night before catching the next days ferry. The booking process and check in was very efficient and welcoming. The rooms were quiet and clean and had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable.
Although the bar and restaurant were extremely busy we managed to book a table for dinner. The food was great. We were particularly impressed by the great teamwork of the front of house team who worked seamlessly even though it was so busy.
