I don't even know where to start and I don't have enough words to express how special this humble little abode is. 

Here as a sentimental escape for my partner's birthday, Dave (and Val, i really hope i have your name correctly) had given us a real home for our few days here. Immediately on arrival Dave's warmth and helpfulness made us feel so welcome. He gave us a cool welcome pack, a plethora of options locally for food and a few things close by and little travel tidbits on how to get about. He so expertly kept it brief enough that we were comfortable and to let us settle down but also so warm enough that his passion for his home and local area was contagious and left us smiling while we explored our room.

The room was exquisite by the way. Spotless, generous and essential. Plenty of hot drink options, a mini fridge for fresh milk, a tv (which we always laugh about because it's such an irrelevant part of the reasons why we travel) that had anything and everything you wanted. Freeview of course, but there's also all the extra streaming services we all know as part of our lives. 
The bed felt like it was floating and truly didn't matter in what pretzel position you slept in it would always be the most comfortable bed you've ever slept on. Genuinely impressed with that. 
The en suite was brilliant, again spotlessly clean, really fantastic towels which sounds strange but i had to resist the urge to go all oceans 11 and heist them away! A towel rack radiator that kept the towels consistently warm and made getting out of the shower as exciting as getting in. 
OH THE SHOWER
my favourite part of any guesthouse/hotel is the shower and the shower in our room was nothing short of perfect. Idiot proof to use, impressively consistent temperature and water pressure and the shower head made the water feel completely enveloping. 
Oh also, their attention to detail is genuinely impressive and ive never known attention like it. They have shower caps, really nice soaps (we are on a mission to acquire some for home) and my partner was pleasantly impressed with a dispenser of small bags for feminine hygiene products. It's worth saying, the soaps and shampoo were exciting particularly for my partner whose sensitive skin reacts to everything BUT NOT THE SOAP STRATHALLAN HAVE!

The breakfast was... Godly. They have a surprisingly large menu and selection of cereals and fruits. Bowls of fruit ready made with a couple different pots of yoghurt, the ambience and look of the room was so relaxing and dave once again showing an expert attention to detail who seemed to adjust ever so slightly our table in accordance to how we ate. A few slices more of brown toast maybe when we would leave the selection of white. A few cubes possibly more of white sugar and bang on timing for bringing out tea and coffee. Conversation with dave was heartful as much as the cooking! Again allowing us to enjoy our breakfast alone but also being a fountain of passion and information ready for us to pick at. We loved breakfast, just having Dave as a gentle force of positivity and friendliness. 
Also, just to reiterate... The cooked breakfast really was godly. Had a cornish breakfast of course and that was gorgeous, an eggs Benedict another day and that was incredible and both me and my partner really favoured the omelettes.

To conclude, it really was like being at mum and dads house. They took care of us. Made us feel warm and welcome and safe. Allowed us to tailor our experience to best suit our stay (gave us an option for what time we would like breakfast) and we felt as sad leaving strathallan as we did leaving our sentiments of which was the reason we traveled here. We will definitely be back (for my own birthday is the plan) and i highly recommend anyone looking for somewhere to stay around cornwall, they stay RIGHT HERE!. The numerous awards they have won do nothing to truly showcase our stay here. And no amount of five starts feels enough. 

(I would also encourage anyone looking to stay here to book with them directly rather than through booking.com. Strathallan have survived with irrefutable evidence as to why through some real nationwide hell for hospitality. Don't let booking.com take money from them! Strayhallan deserve every penny)

A home away from home

Stayed at the Strathallan for the Helstonbury weekend as it is my go to place when in Helston. You will not find a better place in my opinion.  The standard of the rooms are second to none and the (Silver Award) breakfast is spot on with choices and quality. I can highly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs 10/10. Dave and Val can not do enough for you.  Will definitely be back next year. Thanks Dave and Val again for looking after us, see you next year 10/10.

Helstonbury 2024 weekend break

With its super comfy rooms, delicious breakfasts and welcoming host, this was the perfect place to stay for our walking trip around the Lizard Peninsula. If, like us, you are using public transport, it is also perfectly located for catching buses in every direction.

This is the 3rd. year that my wife and I have stayed at Strathallan Helston and will always stay there in the future. One advantage of staying in Helston, is that it’s almost central to the South Easterly and South Westerly tips of Cornwall and quite close to the North Coast.  The rooms at Strathallan are extremely comfortable and spotless. As regards breakfast, David is a chef who produces excellent food. There is also a large selection of dishes to choose from and he does not apply the system of having to order the night before, which we both hate.  He and Val are most hospitable and there is a nice garden to sit in.

Stayed here for 4 nights, at end of October.
From start to finished our stay was excellent, parking space, large room with super comfy bed, breakfast first class great selection and freshly cooked every morning by Davie. Val was a great source of information of where to go and places to visit. Will definitely be going for another visit.

Excellent stay

I had the most perfect stay at Strathallan Guest House. I’m a fussy traveller and I cannot fault it. As a solo traveller I felt very safe. It’s also very reasonable for a solo traveller. 

It was perfectly clean, a calm and relaxing atmosphere and the hosts were lovely and kind and caring. I loved the interior design too.. it had a homely but quality feel to it. The garden was beautiful too!

Dave made the best breakfasts and catered very carefully for my gluten-free/coeliac dietary requirements. I only drink good coffee and even that was perfect! The fridge in my room came in handy too to keep some extra snacks fresh.

It’s so good when you find a little oasis like this! I will certainly be going back for my visits to Cornwall! 

Absolutely perfect! 

Three night stay was fantastic, location   was very good, room was excellent and Dave was friendly and informative about the area. Breakfast was outstanding. Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

Amazing three day break.

We had an exceptionally nice stay at the Strathallan Guest House with a warm welcome from host Dave who was very friendly and hospitable.  The rooms have all you could possibly need with en suite/toiletries, mini fridge, and tea/coffee facilities.  The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable.  Perfect shower.  There is plenty of choice for breakfast - fresh fruits and yogurts and a variety of cooked breakfasts.  Delicious. The Guest House is located within easy walking distance to the town centre and is good place to stay to explore this part of Cornwall.  Brilliant.  Thank you Dave.

A wonderful guest house

The most pleasant stay I’ve had. The service was incredible, the food was spectacular and the place was spotless. I was prepared delicious vegan breakfasts and treated like family. The owners are lovely people!

Absolutely perfect

Excellent accommodation, very comfortable, clean, quiet, and the owner is very kind and excellent cooker. If you want to know Cornwall, it has a good location to visit the main little villages around it.
