Let me start off by saying I can be picky when it comes to small inns or European style hotels, we probably would have not chosen this place, except there was an excellent deal, and we wanted to try an authentic inn experience.  I AM SO GLAD WE DID! 

Truly this place was a hidden gem.   The actually pub itself looked like out of a movie.  The owners were so personal and nice, the food was excellent.  Everyone in the pub loved talking to our family and our children.  There were toys in the corner for our 4 kids to play with.   The whole pub experience was just amazing and great, and literally the food was awesome. 

The rooms I was worried about going into this experience but they were just fine.  Definitely a little older and could use some updating, but the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable and the showers were hot.  In the morning there was an awesome breakfast spread (that was a charge, but it was really great!).   

I would say if I just based this off of the room, it wouldn't be amazing, but combine that with the whole experience, as well as the great value, it was one if our favorite stays in our European tour.  If I come back to Stonehenge I am DEFINITELY staying here again!  Also the new owners are going to be remodeling so I am excited to see what is to come!

A Hidden Gem

Fantastic weekend away, such a lovely clean and friendly run establishment. Food was excellent and the staff where so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend it to everybody and we will definitely be going back.

Excellent weekend away

Was out on a business trip and stopped at the Pelican for lunch. Great food and service and will stop again when passing next time. Staff were friendly and helpful. The current landlord has just taken over and is a great location for a break on one’s travels.

Great rural pub

We visited the property from 08/08/22 for three nights. The place was clean, comfortable and friendly. We enjoyed our dinner there on our last two nights and the drinks were very good as well. Our rooms had TVs and a fridge, which was very handy. The setting of the place is beautiful with a stunning beer garden and situated next to a little brook.

Clean, comfortable and friendly

We stayed here for one night as a stop off on our way to Cornwall. Its a bit dated and basic but clean and inexpensive. Some road noise at peak times, its a motel style room. Slept well and comfy for £50 a night.

Does the job

Wow what can I say, amazing fab food great staff about time whoop whoop, chicken burger was out of this world and nachos where the best the kids loved it just can't fault a thing,will be visiting a lot more well done the pelican

Amazing turn around .. lovely team of people.. Table service was fast, the food was amazing and value for money ! The atmosphere of the pub is great it’s warm friendly and overall a really nice place to go to enjoy an evening 😊

Amazing food an lovely staff

I visited this pub on Friday the 1st of April as I live locally in the village.  The last owners left a lot to be desired in my opinion. A pub should be the heart of the local community and under previous management this certainly was not the case.  I have heard so much positivity now the pub is under new management so my wife and I decided to check it out for ourselves.  We were not disappointed.  
 
As soon as we walked in, we noticed the pub was clean and warm.  The bar was busy with customers, something I have not seen or heard for some time.  We were greeted by staff who took our drinks order.  We decided to eat.  The menu is typical of any pub under a brewery.  We placed our order and sat in the restaurant.  
 
After about 20 minutes the manager approached and apologised for the delay in the food as they were clearly busy and she explained that the chef only had access to one griddle, a problem she had identified and was trying to rectify.  We were in no rush so we had no issues. 
 
The food arrived about 5 minutes later.  It was hot, well presented and tasty.  I had gammon, egg and chips and my wife had scampi and chips. Simple I know but nevertheless it was very good.  We both had clean plates after.  
 
I am aware the landlady is keen to be part of the village.  Good for her, she gets our vote.  
 
Whether you are a local or passing through I urge you to try this overhauled pub.

What an amazing pub! Top class service and amazing food! I would recommend a stay here to everyone. Cannot wait for my next visit! I can honestly say you must visit and meet the staff especially mom..

The table service was quick and effective and the staff were lovely the whole time! I'm not sure how the waitress remembered the whole order without writing anything down and got everyone's food exactly right! Very nice environment with a lovely heated outdoor area with enough room for the kids to run around! 
The cowboy XL burger could have fed the whole table and was cooked to perfection. Going to take the family there every time, best pub/B&B I've been to! Cannot recommend this place enough
