Loved the hotel and the food. Staff were fantastic. Will definitely be back for more. Suited as a retreat as I had no phone coverage but with free WiFi and free parking. It is a great base to explore oxford nearby. 

Lovely hotel, rooms big and full of character 

Staff were helpful, room was picturesque.  We were given room 8, which is a large room with a four-poster bed.
The room smelt rather musty, and there was a boiler (or some other machinery) in the room below us which was very noisy for one night.  However, when we spoke to reception the next day, they arranged for it to be fixed.
We paid 71.10 pounds per night for a double room without breakfast.

Picturesque, reasonable value for money.

We stayed on a Sunday night, in a room overlooking the main street. We were not troubled by sounds from the bar or the church bells which seemed very distant through the double glazing. We really liked our room, which had all the quirky character of an old coaching inn. The beds were clean and comfortable and there was tea and biscuits etc on a tray. Only slight niggle was that the shower wall tiles had soapy residue on them from previous users. 
We much enjoyed our Sunday roast  meal, except for the roast potatoes which were a bit leathery and tasted a bit odd. My husband wondered if they were frozen ones. He loves his potatoes usually. The good selection of  vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the pork and crackling delicious. My Eton Mess dessert was super.
Breakfast next morning was fine with plenty of choice. 
We would stay here again.

Good Ale: Served properly.
It has a very nice atmosphere in the evening time.
I avoid visiting between lunchtimes and late afternoons.
They have a very good Team of pool players who will take you for a game if you ask.
This pub is in the town centre, everything you need will be within walking distance.

Not Too Bad

Partner had always wanted to stay in Dorchester after having happy child hood memories here. Have had couple of meals at the George pub and noticed they had accommodation as well.

Honest opinion found it expensive compared to similar standards. Cleaning of rooms not up to great standard, needs some attention to detail, i.e. Dust on kettle & tea tray etc.
